Are you doing any activation stuff before you squat? That might make a difference. I know Frenchie has a bunch in her log, and good old air humps are always a nice one to use.
Pixie - nope, I don’t compete in anything. Any weight/fat loss is for my own satisfaction. And often the short term satisfaction of eating something yummy wins out over the long term goal which I’m not entirely sure is possible to achieve (ie abs, because I’ve never in my 44 and a half years seen them).
Patch: Yeah, I do glute bridges and bird dogs as part of my warmups.
Cal: Yummy food is awesome
Seeing abs is overrated!

Is the knee still bothering you?
2busy: Depending on what I do, yes, my knee acts up. I’m still learning how far I can push it before it gets tired or aggravated and what sets it off. I can squat now but I have to build up the endurance again. Doing 95x5x2 tired it out. I went to a class yesterday that I absolutely enjoyed before I started working on rehabbing my knee. My knee didn’t enjoy the class even though I modified a lot of movements to try and keep them in my comfort zone. So, no class for me. Too much jumping and side-to-side movement, I think. It feels a lot better today which makes me happy. My recovery time is a lot faster.
I eat a lot of boring meals, too
Doesn’t help that I have a grocery store less than a 5 minute walk from where I live when I start getting cravings. Very hard not to get up and walk over to buy whatever I’m craving some days.

lots of foam rolling
Rack pulls: 45x10, 95x5, 115x5, 135x5, 165x3, 185x0
Power shrugs: 135x5x3
Steam room and done.
I wasn’t feeling the workout today. Headache and stress from work were not helping out. When the 185 didn’t go up I was truly done with the workout. Accessory work wasn’t worth the effort today. Just bleah.
So I went like, 5 hours without food today and just about lost my shit. I thought of you and your eating plan and give you tons of credit. Keep at it, lady.
I was feeling blah today. Let’s go ahead and blame some star alignment or something, mkay? Til then we’ll just wait til things roll back our direction.

Spock: Power shrugs keep me happy for the explosive movement. It’s just shy of doing a clean/snatch pull so I can get in that last second push through with the hips and pop with the traps.
Gonna go see my massage therapist today as it feels like I have golfballs stored under my scaps. Absolutely killing me and giving me a huge headache. I feel like I have talons digging into my skull. Sooo, probably just going to do sprints and some light kb swings when I get home. It’s supposed to be bench day but I know he’s going to roll through my traps and neck, essentially frying my CNS. Hard to get tight and do bench properly like that. I’ll push my workouts back to Friday and Saturday.

Yup yup! Feel a hell of a lot better right now. Man, my back was all kinds of crunchy. Little cardio and epsom salt bath tonight and same thing is on the menu tomorrow. Stretching my quads too as my knee is a little achy. I’ve been ignoring it ![]()

knee rehab
Agile 8
Bench squats: 45x10, 65x10
Squats: 65x5, 75x5, 85x5, 95x5x3
After each set of squats I stretched my quads. I’ve found this helps keep my knees happy.
OHP: 45x5, 55x5, 60x5, 65x3, 70x2 (PR), 55x6, 45x8
Was supposed to do hamstring curls with the OHP but the machine was being used. Oh well.
DB Bench: 30x12x3
Single arm DB OHP: 20x6x3
BSS: BWx8x3
Stretching and steam room.
