Itchy Scalp While on Test

I’m on test500mg wk, my scalp is really itchy especially when body gets hot, haven’t seen any hair shedding, I know test can make scalp dry, wash my hair everyday, it started once I got on test, I’m in week 4…anyone has had experience with it?

Could be due to rising levels of DHT. If you’re not shedding yet, id prepare for it’

Anything to prevent it? Should I take propecia (finasteride) or nizoral? Or should I wait until the shedding occurs

Ive been using Nizoral Shampoo, not really sure how well its been working though. My hair has already started falling out however, but I finished my cycle this past week so it should stop. Ive been using the 1%, but most reccomend the 2% if you can get your hands on it, I think you have to order it. Finasteride has been shown to work, but the side effects have turned me away from it. ive read too many people experiencing libido issues, sometimes permanent issues.

Thanks, ill get some nizoral shampoo and see how it works, from what I read too finasteride also effects strengths while on AS, if serious shedding occurs I’ll get on it, how many times did u nizoral a week? Was there any serious dryness in hair?

I had the same problem with the dry scalp I’m taking test right now too. I read somewhere that low estrogen causes dry scalp. I was taking too much of my anti e stopped taking it for two weeks and my scalp seems to be back to normal. Could be that good luck.

Thanks man, i read the same thing, that low estrogen causes dry scalp. I’m not taking an AI, I’m only taking mine if I estrogen is high, which apparently isn’t. I’m gonna stay with headnshoulders and a strong conditioner, and if it gets worse ill upgrade to zinoral or even finasterine

That’s what it sounds like to me, although I’ve never experienced this. Good thing for me, male balding doesn’t really ever appear in my family, so I’ve never had any hair issues on cycle.

Male balding doesn’t appear in my family either, from what I’ve been researching it’s the dht from the high levels of test, shedding hasn’t occurred yet, it’s my first cycle, that’s why I’m taking just test and seeing how my body is reacting to it

I am on TRT ( im 20 yrs old). My scalp has been icthing SO bad on testosterone, But only when i get hot, or my body just gets warm, if u work out or run, are in the Sun. My hæmaglobin and hæmatokrit levels (blood procent) , were to high due to HRT, so i donated blood and got “Hjertemagnyl” blood thining meds, that helped, my blood work is fine now, But the scalp ictching never went away….!

I read a protocol somewhere very early in my TRT days that I’ve stuck with ever since and I haven’t noticed any hair loss (if anything, I think my hair has gotten even thicker). Here’s what I do:

  1. Purchase a quality scalp brush (I have a few from Amazon by a vendor called EUHOME that I really like… Tooletries also makes great products) and wet your hair upon entering the shower and give yourself a nice thorough scalp massage to stimulate the follicles.
  2. Use Nizoral (or any ketoconazole) shampoo; massage THAT in really thoroughly after your scalp massage and leave it in while you complete the rest of your shower tasks (shaving, washing your body). I like to use the scalp brush with the shampoo in my hair to really stimulate the scalp. Rinse it out when you’re ready to get out of the shower.
  3. After you’ve exited the shower and dried your hair, apply 1ml of monoxidil to your scalp and massage in thoroughly.

The great part about 1-2 is they actually feel really good anyway; I don’t think I’d ever go back to not using a scalp brush.

As far as finasteride goes, I’ve heard some horror stories about side effects from taking it orally. Some people dissolve it in minoxidil, but I haven’t tried that, I don’t know the proper concentration, and I haven’t needed it… so I prefer not to mess with that stuff.
