Sometimes you have to admire someone for their manipulative brilliance. Most companies don’t negotiate with new college hires much anyways. So basically they are just doing what they would do anyways but it’s because equality.

The article didn’t specify at what stage the new hire was in their career. They could be hiring a new senior exec and still won’t negotiate.
This tactic will, for the most part, drive away quality experienced upper management candidates and will probably lead to weak upper leadership composed of “yes” people who buy into this type of corporate culture.
