Is my KP Endocrinologist Insane?

Attached are my lab results of taking 100mg Test Cyp once a week. I know my physician prescribed me 100mg once every TWO weeks but that dose took me to miserable places. Also i’ve been doing a ton of research since I’ve made the decision to be on this for a lifetime, and it seems like I have more knowledge on this than my own physician that came highly recommended.

Per the results of my labs, I’ve went from being in the 150-170’s range to 300! nearly doubled my total test and my free test has also went up. I was able to achieve morning erections a few times over the past few weeks so it is a plus sign. He has told me that he would increase my dose based upon my initial results after 6 weeks but i guess 150mg/week would require me to have my balls removed… I am not going to go into nurses clinic getting a shot up my ass every two weeks.

Because my SHBG is very low, I wanted to try micro dosing to prevent it from crashing but it seems like he doesn’t want to entertain anything other than a single injection every TWO Weeks! I guess it’s time to call up Kaiser member services and ask them if I can get a different Endo witch they won’t give me because I will need referral from my current one :frowning:

The only great thing I can say about my results is that I’ve managed to drop my A1C levels from 10.0+ down to 7.0 in 8 months of strict on point diet/nutrition and regular gym/physical activities.

Get a new doctor

You will have no positive outcome contacting member services, the doctors are following standard of care for TRT. Our doctor is making it sound as if he doesn’t really have many patients if he has only one patient doing over 150mg every 2 weeks.

There is no way a doctor will prescribe daily dosing at Kaiser, even when the now retired Dr. told me to inject 50mg twice weekly, he wrote it 200mg every 2 weeks so it wouldn’t raise any eyebrows. Too bad he is retired, he learned a thing or two in his career.

Your trough levels are low, you need to keep FT levels higher on trough. I knew TRT would improve your A1C, the fact that it happened this early in the game is a good sign of things to come.

I thought Dr. Daniel Demos would listen since he knows I inject daily because he didn’t seem to have a problem with it. He is the head of endocrinology at Kaiser, if this is the best they have I’m not sure another doctor will help your situation.

I’m sorry it didn’t workout, your only option is to seek a private doctor.

Go with what they said.

Hi @systemlord I’m going to email him back and see if he lets me stay at 100mg/week. I’ll change my injections to QD 14mg/day and see if I can increase my total and free T higher in more appropriate levels. Last time I spoke with Dr.DeMoss in person he said he wanted me to be in the 400 TT range and he would be happy.

I remember you mentioning your numbers were kind of same scenario when it came to SHBG being very low and you taking QD SubQ injections helped you out quiet a bit. If you don’t mind me asking, what dosage did Dr.DeMoss fine tune you on? I understand that he has a stupid dark ages protocol that Kaiser put on him that he can’t deviate it from and 200mg every two weeks seems to be the highest he is allowed to write the script for and he can write a script for max 4 months at a time.

I’m assuming you are under the max of 800TT range from kaiser. If I remember correctly you were somewhere in the 600 TT range but I can’t remember what your SHBG is at with that total test and your free T. I’m assuming you have a high Free T that allows you to get full benefit of TRT w/out having a high TT.

I’ve been trying to find official dosage guidelines from Kaiser and I can’t seem to find any relevant information on what the protocol/dosing schedule is.

Obviously don’t tell your doc you are going to be doing daily injections.

Yeah I won’t be telling him none of that. I’m not as articulate as systemlord to somehow have him agree with me taking small daily dosage. I’m wondering if I stay on 100mg/week If my TT and FT would increase to the point where I would actually be able to see any improvement in the gym and physical appearance as well. I wonder at what levels guys notice increase in muscle mass?

I went from 100-200mg and with higher SHBG than you I didn’t feel like 200mg range would have a big muscle building advantage over 100mg range. I’m sure there’s some but I didn’t see it. I actually gained the most muscle the 8 months I was at <150mg (also closer to when I started TRT).

This level might actually be good for you because most of your testosterone is bioavailable. This wouldn’t work very well for someone with SHBG midrange or higher.

You will need to keep your levels at 400 most of the time to feel good and not just for a couple of days out of the week.
