Water conservation only maters certain places, certain times. Water used is not water destroyed. It doesn’t disappear if an animal drinks it. For example, my house is on a well and septic. Literally, I pump water out of the ground and flush it right back into the same ground.
You are also overlooking the fact that factory farming is not sustainable. It is a petroleum based industry that also destroys the soil. Now, we can get into talking about more sustainable practices but “we don’t have enough land” to organically sustainable farm for everyone. For that matter, you could say the same the of the oysters and muscles diet. If the only good solution has to work for all 7 billion people, that is the wrong answer too.
I also want to see how you are calculation how many animals are killed or maimed in harvesting and planting. Mice, rabbits, worms, bugs… How many thousands (10s of thousands?) die every time a field is plowed or harvested?

I’m not sure, but you can count on millions of dead invertebrates per acre in some ecosystems, on top of dozens to hundreds and maybe thousands of mammals, reptiles and birds per acre. Depends what’s being destroyed to grow the crops.

I can assure you that far, far more than 100 billion animals lose their lives to grow all of the crops in the US every year. Many times many more.
To be clear, I’m not anti-vegan. I’m just anti-bullshit, which happens to put me at odds with most vegans I end up conversing with.

Depends on what you call an animal. If you include invertebrates, absolutely. Don’t arthropod lives matter, or do you only care about animals that are Disney-cute?
We cultivate about 400 million acres per year in the US. Do more than 2500 creatures of the animal kingdom die or otherwise lose the life they might have had per acre cultivated? Easily.
Dig a hole in a field and put the dirt into a 5 gallon bucket. Count the number of organisms you find. You might be surprised.
