Iraq: Consider This...

Iraq is THE strategic location in the middle east.

Objectively or relatively?

I can’t kind of see where you’re going with this. I remember in chess that you always want to control the four center squares, and you’ll control the game. Maybe Iraq is similar to this, who knows?

EDIT:'scuse me meant to say CAN.

…So we went into Iraq to gain a strategic holding in the Middle East? For what purpose? Aggressive much…

We basically destroyed the infrastructure of a barely held together army and started a Civil War so we could gain a little ground in a war we don’t even know if we’ll have to fight. Wonderful.

(And yes, I know we also took out Saddam. USA, USA, USA and God Bless the richest nation on the planet and all that).

It’d be nice to restore some museums and cultural-historical centers with the help of philanthropist money. Of course, that’s the historian in me talking.

That’s why it was the center of Islam back in the day.

Is it too late to try the 4 move checkmate?

This is NOT what I said.

We didn’nt start a civil war, Mr. Sunni you know the guy who hates Mr. Shia they are trying to start a civil war. We’ve been fighting the war, we are now in a better position (read in their yard not ours)to control the outcome.

(And yes, I know we also took out Saddam. USA, USA, USA and God Bless the richest nation on the planet and all that).[/quote]

I agree with the above.

Yep. Israel being virtually an offshore US military base, I say that there’s no rooting you out of there.

You have tried before, and was sent home with your tails between your legs. Then you guys ran to the US to broker a “peace agreement”.

We’ll have to wait and see. ;D

I tried what?

Alan Greenspan recently stated the obvious.

“Whatever their publicized angst over Saddam Hussein’s ‘weapons of mass destruction,’ American and British authorities were also concerned about violence in the area that harbors a resource indispensable for the functioning of the world economy. I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil.”

Consider this as well…

This has got to be the most disturbing video I’ve seen to date about the war.

… uh, merely a coincidence? After all Bush is an idiot, incapable of outsmarting a pretzel, much less planning for a future in which it might be advantageous for America to have a strategically-located ally in the middle-east, right?
/sarcasm

Seriously, the location could be a boon or a disadvantage in the long run. Even if the “rebels” are quelled or driven out and peace breaks out throughout the whole country, it will continue to be a target for radicals of every stripe throughout the region. And regardless of who ends up in power, they will almost certainly be written off as “puppets” of the damn filthy imperialist swine unless they are openly hostile toward the US and Israel.

Sorry, I wanted to watch, really I did. But then they opened with footage from Vietnam. Off.

Given that it’s about chemical weapons, the footage is totally appropriate.

An Arab Coalition made up of Islamic volunteers from all parts of Northen Africa, including Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, and even your own Morrocco joined the 1973 Egyptian-Syrian invasion of Israel.

(and got absolutely humiliated in the process, lol)

The Vietnam war ended thirty two years ago. I watched the first few minutes of that video. I don’t see how napalm being used in Vietnam thirty five years ago, relates to Fallujah. The US no longer uses napalm.

And what do I have to do with them?
