I can’t kind of see where you’re going with this. I remember in chess that you always want to control the four center squares, and you’ll control the game. Maybe Iraq is similar to this, who knows?

We basically destroyed the infrastructure of a barely held together army and started a Civil War so we could gain a little ground in a war we don’t even know if we’ll have to fight. Wonderful.
(And yes, I know we also took out Saddam. USA, USA, USA and God Bless the richest nation on the planet and all that).
It’d be nice to restore some museums and cultural-historical centers with the help of philanthropist money. Of course, that’s the historian in me talking.
That’s why it was the center of Islam back in the day.

Seriously, the location could be a boon or a disadvantage in the long run. Even if the “rebels” are quelled or driven out and peace breaks out throughout the whole country, it will continue to be a target for radicals of every stripe throughout the region. And regardless of who ends up in power, they will almost certainly be written off as “puppets” of the damn filthy imperialist swine unless they are openly hostile toward the US and Israel.

The Vietnam war ended thirty two years ago. I watched the first few minutes of that video. I don’t see how napalm being used in Vietnam thirty five years ago, relates to Fallujah. The US no longer uses napalm.
