I heard the term “Globo-Cop” tonight on Scarborough Country and it kinda got to me.
Can the U.S. pull out in some fashion out of Iraq, possibly Afghanistan (Afghanistan poses a bigger threat to us anyway) and maybe everywhere else like Korea and both remain a superpower and save face at the same time?
How much do we NEED the Middle East?
Can Isreal defend itself (I think it can) and do we care?
Can the money we are spending in Iraq be better spent on biodeisel development and production etc. therefore making us oil-independent?

Sure it can. But then again so could all the money we’re spending on our blossoming welfare and police state.
I’m not sure that America is as likely to become the global police force so much as the global ATM. We did manage to spend about 75 Billion dollars on Official Development Assistance between '02 and '05. If we were a little tighter with our money on the military front AND the foreign aid front, I can only imagine the advances we might make with regard to energy efficiency and medical research.
But of course, holding on to our money would make us greedy, which would probably lead to more terrorists, right?
