Iran: If Not Now, When?

hey ephrem, read this:

If the US is not the good guy, what do you call this?

You’re a pompous, self-righteous ass, just carrying out your natural duty.

You know, so we all know how much credence to give those bombastic pronouncements of yours.

Dear Gkhan, the Russians have not been good guys either, but because they’ve been worse does not mean american atrocities are suddenly good.

It’s all so very, very bad.

And pompous? I fit right in in that respect with my conservative american online friends on PWI, don’t you think?

[do you think?]

Is that why you were ignoring my posts? No, I’m not HH. Sorry to disappoint you.

Do most of the regular posters in PWI agree with this statement?
HeadHunter does, but he’s a troll. Sifu does aswell. Probably SexMachine too, but I think he’s a HH sockpuppet. PWI does have a number of nutcases, I’m sorry to say.

But I like to think they’re a minority.

We’ll just have to wait and see if what the entire nation is concerned whether that’s true or not.

Here’s hoping for the best!

[I mean no war with Iran ofcourse]

BTW - I have only ever advocated strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and taking out their batshit leadership. I have friends who are exiles from the 79 revolution. Why are you telling people that I advocate annihilating Iran with nuclear weapons?

Wow, a thread about Iran has come down to “America is BAD!”

Let’s not continue this. Eph, it was fun(?) but let’s just say you have made your point. As you refuse to answer questions or explain it further, I think it’s best if it is done. You have said your peace. Unless you take a moment to answer questions or post in a more serious fashion, I don’t believe I will be responding. Perhaps some of the others will and you can continue the internet fight.

If SM is HH, than HH has been hiding a LOT of knowledge over the years. I strongly doubt it.

As you wish.

Do you believe the U.S. would be able to efficiently strike the nuclear facilities and take out the Iranian regime without causing full blown war and tanking the global economy? I think that would be ideal, but I’m not sure how it would be done.

US and Israel have been attacking the Iranian nuclear program for years. US even sold them a fake program. Latest thing is the Stuxnet virus. All of it was designed to buy time. The Iranians have been threatening both Persian Gulf and Suez. Iraqi parliament is currently erupting into Shia/Sunni sectarianism and Iran is attempting to gain control. It would be a whole lot worse to allow them to control the Gulf and ignite a regional conflict.

Given this situation:

I am curious as to the thoughts of this.

 1. This could be bluffing by the Iranians…if so…they lose face in their own country amidst a growing dissension of their youth, not to mention against regional competitors. There seems to be alot at stake with their concerns over israel, saudi arabia, and influence in Iraq. High stakes poker here.

 2. IF they go through with it, they most certainly face armed retribution (for better or worse) by western nations…or at least a military standoff. This COULD be to their domestic advantage as they play off the whole repressed victims of western aggression role in an attempt to unify their populace and allies to their side.

If Iranians block off the Strait of Hormuz like they’ve been threatening, they’ll lose China’s support, and possibly Russia’s as well. They do have a lot of nippy small boats and mine-laying capabilities but I don’t think the US Fifth Fleet would be that troubled.

The Saudis would certainly not stand for it and they’re far more hawkish than the Israelis re: Iran. I think this is sabre rattling considering the new sanctions laid against them (they trashed the British Embassy last month). For now.

You think they will engage US ships in battle?

Au contraire, they will simply sink them with anti ship missiles.

This would be as much of a battle as sinking ships in a barrel is, a but one sided.

You apparently have little knowledge of naval group defenses.
But I have knowledge of a US wargame where a US colonel did exactly that.

It had to be repeated of course, the Iranians would could never ever match a US colonels brilliance.
