Just because Bush has decided to “go wobbly” at a crucial moment doesn’t mean that other players are going to be infected with “the wimp factor”.

The Israeli’s are not in agreement with the NIE report. I wouldn’t be surprised if they handle it themselves. If the Iranians start lashing out at everyone in response America could still be dragged in. That might even be the plan.

The Russians have just decided to send an aircraft carrier into the Eastern Mediteranean near Israel.

The US navy is about to have three aircraft carriers in or near the Persian Gulf.

Right now we are a few weeks away from the shortest day and longest night of the year. Darkness is a good cover for an attack.

So I don’t think we are out of the woods yet.

I’m simply advocating the return of stolen property — the oil fields. The people who stole/possess the fields just announced that they have no weapons.

If Iranians came here and started a business, then our government decided to confiscate that business ‘for the national good’ or because Iran is a ‘Great Satan’, what would you advise the Iranians to do?

Maybe go through the UN or the World Court? What if our gov’t still refuses to return the business?

I’m also wondering how the oil fields of Iran are somehow the property of the US… how does that work? You install a friendly dictator (the Shah) who then “legally” gives away (or close enough) the oil fields to American corporations. Then, we he gets booted and the Iranian people reclaim their oil fields, you cry that they’re stealing them from you? That’s a swell gimmick.

Lastly, you shouldn’t equate “having no nuclear weapons” with “having no weapons or troops whatsoever.”

Stability in international investment occurs when some leading power stands just off stage waiting to crush those who would ruin it. The oil fields in Iran were found and developed by British and American oil companies. The oil companies made long-term contracts with Iran concerning those fields. No one will spend billions developing an oil field if it will just be confiscated.

The contracts were broken and somehow the oil fields suddenly became the property of the Iranians. This is theft. Without the oil companies, oil was something that poisoned the goats.

The world is now much more poor than in the 1960s. Poverty is accelerating esp in Africa. A big reason for this is that the Iranians were allowed to get away with their thievery. Investment around the globe in unstable areas has about dried up. No one willl invest in Zimbabwe, for ex, because Mugabe will just grab it. He can do so because no one will clobber him for doing so. The poor people of the world suffer consequently.

Its easy to blame the USA for all the world’s problem. But those problems often come about because the USA actually wants to have laws and rules. Criminals usually do hate the ‘sheriff’ and come up with sundry reasons why he’s evil, he’s ‘Bushitler’, and all kinds of vile crap like that. They should really learn to become men instead.
