And then they go to the US – to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Carnegie Mellon, MIT…and any number of grad schools – to get a real education.
Face it Franz, Grandad was wrong; nothing special about the Nazis and their spawn.
Face it Billie Bob, nothing special about America either.
Hmmm… lets see:
We have advanced all the major sciences, medicine, industry, space exploration, technology etc.more than any other nation overall by a lot. We are more prosperous than any other nation on Earth as a whole also by a lot. We voluntarily give more of our own money to help the rest of the world than the next 5 or maybe even 10 nations combined. We are the destination of much more immigration as well because apparently some people seem to think America IS special. In 200 years we made ourselves the most mighty military force in recorded history.
The automotive and electrical industries alone, both unleashed here first, revolutionized the human condition on a truly world wide scale in one fell swoop. Whenever a people pursue freedom they point and look to us for both their example and support. Should I go on?
That is not to discount the many and significant contributions from other nations as well, including Austria, but the United States has been the most “successful” nation in history and is in that sense exceptional.
It’s a global tragedy that we have been increasingly hell bent on seeing to it that that does not continue, but the fact remains.[/quote]
If you say so.
I think that Egypt, China and Rome at least would disagree and that contributions like the road, laws, civil servants an organized military and things like these were a bit more fundamental but if you would like to think that America is special because it carried the torch for 50 years or so, why not.
I do not even have a problem with the real America, just with the bloated, ignorant and downright dangerous caricature some posters here seem to worship.
