i’ll probably get it. I don’t have a smartphone yet, and I like the new design improvements of the iphone 5 (thinner, bigger screen, lighter). If they didn’t do those I would’ve likely gotten the Samsung phone, but yeah if I had a 4s theres no way I’d get the 5. Though im also not a huge tech person.

iPhone 4S does not have 4G LTE.
If you have used LTE for data you’ll know the difference. It’s easily twice as fast as 3G data.
I switched to the iPhone 4 from a Blackberry a few months back. I’m pretty happy with the improvement. I never once considered the Galaxy. Way too bulky. Heck I even consider the Evo borderline. I wanted something about as big as my Blackberry but something that works better. Would I go iPhone 5? Maybe 2 years from now when I’m due for another upgrade and the thing is marked down to $50 or less with a 2 year contract.
Then again, if a Droid phone looks like a better match to what I’m looking for, I’d may opt for a Droid instead. I have no brand loyalty when it comes to smartphones.
My 3g has served me well, but its getting a little slow, and I’d like to upgrade to a phone with a personal hotspot and a network with broader coverage than ATT. Verizon Iphone 5 it is.
Oh, and I always gladly pay Apple’s premium. I like to reward innovation and I like things that just work. In my house we have two screaming macbook pros, an Imac, a macbook air, an Ipad, and two iphones, its all networked and backed up through a 2 TB time machine. I work from home and do all my work using computers and I don’t have time for things that don’t work seamlessly. I also don’t want to pay for an IT person if i don’t have to, and with my Macs I don’t. I’ve got no complaints with any of my apple products or the price I paid for them.

hmm, yeah not sure what LTE is, but definitely have 4G and it’s speeds are fine for any need most people should have, unless you’re trying to stream maybe a 1080p movie or something

I kind of get the Apple/iPhone hate. There are equally good phones on the market, yet most people just flock to the iPhone b/c it’s an Apple product. Or just so they can be part of the crowd.
I got an iPhone since it first came out, so Iit’s all I’ve known that’s why I stik with it, it does everything I need it to do. Though, could some other phone be slightly better? Maybe, but I can’t imagine it being that different.

I’ll say this about Apple: These machines are fast and stable. For me, in the music industry, there is no other choice for recording. I had Sweetwater make me the most badass PC tower for audio only on Windows XP Pro. It never went on line, it was totally optimized for recording. It sucked in comparison to my MacBook Pro.
But, for the average user Windows is probably fine. I have iPhone 4S, for me a big improvement over a Blackberry. Those Driod phones seem really big and bulky, but I’m not watching videos and playing games on my phone.

Hardware and software is annoyingly fragile, even when you have the best engineers and test teams. Few other things in life are like that; most everything else in life degrades gracefully before it fails.
When I was younger, I hated Macs because when they crashed, they didn’t give you any information to actually fix them. PCs crashed plenty too, but at least you could figure out why.
I’ve crashed my iPhone a handful of times… not just a few apps, but the actual phone where i required a hard reboot. My girlfriend’s iPhone decides to turn off randomly, here and there (genuine hardware failure).
But I expect the same from other manufacturers too, since that’s just the nature of technology.

I’m not saying studio mac’s never crash, I’ve heard they do, but never happened to me. The PC’s are the worst in my experience. And the performance isn’t even close.

AT&T pressured Apple to show the 4G logo on top because Verizon has true 4G LTE network in more places. AT&T didn’t want to look like they were behind on the 4G network but they have been rolling out new LTE markets this year. The 4S is NOT a true 4G phone because it doesn’t have LTE. This is a marketing trick by AT&T.
I will say…I like the fact that it now has LTE and a larger screen. When I can get it for a new contract price, I will upgrade.
