Interesting Study on Marijuana

I’ll agree with Rockscar on this one. Alcohol is far more detrimental in so many ways. One thing about pot though, it’s too damn convenient. It takes a little time and effort to get drunk. It’s really quick and easy to sneak out a take a toke. If you have the propensity to veg out after getting high, it’s easy to “waste” a lot of life away. On the other hand some creative endeavors can be enhanced when you’re a bit buzzed. Like someone wrote: Moderation.

If folks smoked 2 or 3 packs of joints per day for 20 years, I think that one would see the cancers.

If the stuff is good, you intake will be self limiting.

I don’t think some of you are understanding the study. These are people who smoked BOTH marijuana and cigarettes who had decreased findings of lung cancer compared to people who smoked cigarettes alone.

Ok, looks like your Heineken is going to see some darkness.

  1. Alcohol clearly effects Brain, Liver and other organs more than pot. Ever hear of the alcoholic death? Wet brain? Violence? Alcoholism. No such thing happens on pot.

  2. Alcohol is responsible for aggressive and destructive behavior more than pot.

  3. Alcohol can ruin lives very quickly.

I think anyone who thinks alcohol is safer than pot is a complete idiot with no experience in the matter.

Rockscar, I will see you at your house on Saturday night at around 6pm. I will be waiting with the bottle. lol. I didn’t say alcohol was just ducky either.

You know, just because someone posts some marijuana studies, it does not mean they are an advocate of everyone getting stoned everyday of their life. It doesn’t mean the poster is a pot head.

It means they posted some studies.

I’ll go along with this. I’ve done plenty of both and have never passed out, thrown up, or been unable to function because of weed, but have done all 3 more than I care to remember because of drinking too much. This contributes to my belief that one being legal and the other illegal is plain nonsensical.

Having said all that, even if it’s shown beyond any doubt to mitigate the cancer causing effects of cigarettes, doing neither is still going to be dramatically healthier.

Bottom line is, I stand by my original assertion here and in other threads. Moderate drinking is healthy and an occasional joint isn’t going to hurt anybody, but overindulgence on a consistent basis of either, and especially both is counterproductive to fitness and physique goals even if it didn’t shorten your life appreciably.
