Any physiotherapists out there? If so, do you like your job? I’m currently upgrading my high school courses as we speak in preparation for next year; physio is on top of my list as of now…

I repair/dismantle/modify things at nuclear power plants.

I heard from a son of a dentist that they have the highest suicide rates.
I heard that the highest rates were unemployed followed by doctors.

Lead an interesting life. Work somewhere you want to work doing what you want to do.

The money ain’t all that important. I would much rather work 30 hours a week then a 120…but then I’m going to try and avoid “working” at all and try my hand at freelance writing.

Do what makes you happy. The guy with the most money in the end does not win.

I love my job. I’m a regulator for the EPA. Basically I do unannounced inspections to ensure that companies are operating in compliance with EPA regulations. I oversee clean ups and remediations and make the bad guys pay for it.

I am a civil servant so I only work 40 hours a week with no evenings or weekends. I won’t get rich doing this, but the benefits are great and there is a tremendous amount of satisfation that I get from wearing the “white hat”.

You need at least a four year science degree and an advanced degree helps since there is a lot of competition to get into the agency.

Funny, you work for the EPA and supervise cleanups. Yet you’re the reason for most of these cleanups with that god damn tail of yours.
And don’t forget that without the mess to begin with, she wouldn’t even exist.

But he does tend to win a lot more along the way;)

So I decided to take a test and get out of highschool 1 year early. I am now enrolled at my local community college soon transferring to a university. Problem is I have to choose a major so I can take the specific courses, but I can’t make up my mind. Anyone here a college graduate or have an interesting career they would like to share? any business men…doctors?
Did the military, hated it. Worked in grocery retail (meat cutter/Clerk), hated the hours. Went into sales, hated it at first, found my groove and now work for myself as a consultant (glorified sales title) taking the summers and ALL holidays off. I live four block from the ocean. My kids are in private school. My wife does not work and life is generally speaking, good.

I wanted to be a PT or a PA, but in the end I could not stand the incredible whining from people and their problems. No matter what you study it really does not matter (LA, FA, Sc, Bus, Eng, etc.). Focus on trying to figure out where you will be most happy, fulfilled and satisfied with how you spend your days.
In the end, its about how you make it and what you do with it. Good luck, keep focused and try to find something that fits your personality and desired lifestyle.

I’ve always wanted to be a spy…
My friend is a spy. He can’t talk about his job much- at all, really. But occasionally I get him wasted and he lets slip a few tidbits. It’s a lot of intelligence gathering and not much action, but he has been to a lot of places, including some war zones. I’m sure he loves it. It does make a normal life and a relationship tough though.

As for me, I am a qualified High School English teacher. I really enjoyed it- the pay wasn’t that flash, but I got 14 weeks vacation a year, and read books and talked to kids for a job. I was home by 4:30 most days too. Lifestyle wise it was great. I will return to it when I finish coaching rugby here in Japan, which is great fun too.

Two of my other friends are lawyers. They earn over 100k but they have a lot of stress and work long hours. I almost went down that route myself but I am pretty glad I didn’t.

Working in a steel mill is not interesting.

I have been researching the Alsakan crab fishing field also.

Would love a job that lets me travel, I have been in London (only a for a day and Africa for a few weeks), when I was 15.

I want to see Austrilia and travel all of Europe despite watching Hostel 50 times and being unbealivably gulliable.

So much depends on how well you can do in school and what type of life balance you want. I have my masters in economics and am on track to making around 80 thousand a year in 4 to 5 years in the federal government. Life balance is ideal and I have amazing job security, but I am clearly not going to get rich where I am at.
