I went to a urologist for low test, he prescribed me Androgel for trt. He was concerned about my Red blood cells 5.83. He said it could be from not drinking enough water before bloodwork. My insurance denied claim for rbc being high. They wanted my Dr to take alternative. My Dr did suggest giving blood before I left him. So I’m just wondering if other people had high rbc and still prescribe testosterone?
What is the price without insurance?
I believe $600
You may want to look at longevity clinics.
I’ve heard of costs as low as 135 per month which includes quarterly bloodwork, syringes, drawing needles, alcohol pads and arimidex.
Most TRT is not administered by a PCP or Endo. Those that are, typically administer not great protocols. Cash pay at clinic like Defy or Marek. Upfront costs with labs and initial meds are the most you pay and once you are dialed in its pretty cheap. Mine prob average less than <$100 month.
How’s your rbc? That’s the reason why insurance denied says it’s not good to take testosterone. I believe I was dehydrated the day of bloodwork.
My RBC is fine. I used to go through insurance and an endo. The care was not great as most are not up to date on TRT protocols. Like I said, I would talk to a cash pay specialist to get you sorted out. I chose to do this even though insurance would cover my endo care.
Defy, as mentioned, might be a good place to start.
I got sorted through an in-person clinic, then switched to Defy when protocol was nailed down. I pay ~$135 every 10-12 weeks. It’s pretty inexpensive given the incredible benefits.
I signed up, just waiting on a call. Thank you
Urologist suggest Clomid 50mg I think that might be a waste.
If you’re secondary hypo maybe not.
What is that?
Google primary vs secondary hypogonadism. Basically if you’re primary than Clomid won’t help. If you’re secondary you it could help your HPTA to produce more Testosterone. I have not heard many success stories of guys on Clomid long term.
Thank you
Urologist stop answering, he thinks it’s a bad idea to inject with high rbc. I just think I wasn’t hydrated enough, I’ll donate blood like he said.
What you think about self medicated trt?
I wouldn’t. Defy is so easy and great. At $50ish a month for real, legally obtained testosterone and a doctor who monitors your blood results semi annually, why risk messing around with UGL? Especially when starting out and you don’t have a protocol yet.
Only as a last resort.
Donation is actually detrimental long term. It’s like a plaster on a cut.
There is a GENERAL 3 to 1 ratio between hematocrit and hemoglobin by rule. This would be perfect hydration. Were those two items measured?
If it’s higher than 3 to 1, then it’s usually related to dehydration.
