Not sure if nerd or masochist. lol[/quote]

LOL, was just busting your balls man. A couple of my best friends at school are physics majors and from what I hear it’s serious business, I imagine astrophysics would be at least as intense so good luck with that.

One of my majors is philosophy so I’m not really allowed to call people nerds and mean it anyway

Good job pulling out of the meet. For serious. Takes bigger balls to walk away from a meet attempt than to try it while hurting.

At least you got your first meet jitters out of the way.

I don’t think I need to major in general physics as undergrad and then astrophysics as a grad student. From what I understand, I can extrapolate that it won’t be an issue. We’ll see. Astrophysics will be more focused so most of the coursework may be a bit more advanced.

Thanks. Yeah it’s nice to have some meet experience under my belt.

I missed today’s 5/3/1 press session. I’ll do a two-a-day tomorrow so that I don’t feel like an asshole.

Goals Update:
The goals are still:
600x1 squat
450x1 bench
650x1 deadlift
250x1 strict press
315x1 push press
@ a leaner 225-230
by the end of the year

From the way things have been progressing, it’s likely that I’ll hit those numbers sooner, but understanding the piecewise nature of progression in the gym and competition, I won’t modify any goals until I hit designated numbers. As it stands now, I think I’m at:
560-580 squat
390-415 bench
deadlift (who knows lol hopefully ~600)
strict and push press won’t be judged until after the two cycles of 5/3/1
I was expecting the meet to ascertain a truer model of where I stand currently, but things didn’t go as well as I hoped, so I can only suggest ranges. I think they’re honest though. I will probably take true maxes sporadically. I’ll need a true deadlift max for Coan/Phillipi, but everything else can tested quite a bit later. Like I’ve stated many times before, I prefer to build lifts and actually get stronger on a consistent basis rather than incessantly waste time testing arbitrary maxes.

Yeah, its meat

I figured. I LOL’d when I saw it.

This is going to be legit!

Fuck GT

SSJ3 Trunks!

Frieza has a son(or daughter)?!

Is this actually happening?

Those are some impressive end of year goals man. How much weight do you have to gain to get into the 225-230 range?

Also lol @ DBZ nostalgia

Only 5-10lbs but I expect to be leaner as well

It better

Strict press
5/3/1 option 1/training max 205
145x3
165x3
185x3
Push press from pins
5/3/1 option 2/training max 210
170x3
180x3
190x10 PR this took some will power
16" Rack pull
used straps
335x5 forgot to shrug
405x5 followed by 10 shrugs
475x5 followed by 10 shrugs
545x3 followed by 3 shrugs
615x1 PR I could’ve tripled this …
Z press
45x8
135x4
175x0 nope
Pullups
just did a set of 26 reps

NOTES:

  1. Too much time off. The prescribed reps for strict press were difficult, but I pulled it off. Can’t really blame anything but myself for that.
  2. I decided to use triples as my rep scheme as opposed to 5s. That’s due to the fact that the 5s become pretty taxing, and considering the large jumps, triples seemed more suitable to my purpose. It’s also safer as far a injury prevention is concerned. Following this adaptive phase, I’ll probably move back to 5s. The triples also remove the need for a realization double.
  3. 615 (a helluva jump from last week I know) was the big PR for the day for sure. I could’ve tripled the weight, but I celebrated mentally after my first rep because I knew this was big jump from where I intended to work from as far as progression. I’ll continue to improve and learn from these micro-mistakes that calcify into avoidable walls.
  4. Z press is pretty much a novelty lift at this point. I’ve accumulated so much fatigue by the time I reach it that it serves as nothing more than a small volume additive at this point. As my work capacity increases, this will change but in the meantime I’m going to drop the lift for some other accessory move.
  5. The first three lifts are the only ones that are particularly important to the layout, so I’ll be rotating all assistance as I like.

Fuck the two-a-day plan. I didn’t sleep at all last night and I’m tired.

Nice rack pull PR. Big number. How does push press from pins work? Unracking off pins then push pressing it, similar to how oly guys use jerk blocks?

a lot going on in that workout. Strong work 26 pull ups is legit.

Z press i’d keep it light and explosive

Yeah sort of. It’s a similar setup to cleaning each rep and still full ROM.

Thanks bro. I can get well over 30 when I feel like it. Oh yeah I tried Z pressing sitting Indian style and I COULDN’T press 135 lol. You may want to give a try sometime.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s lifting. I plan to squat. I’ll just work up to something easy like 495-515 for reps. Then I’ll do speed pulls and probably some CG.
