Inappropriate Humour

Daniel Tosh makes a living on tasteless/inappropriate humor, this is well known. If you are easily offended, you probably shouldn’t go to his show. Just saying.

Context is everything!

Their are certain fairly sicko jokes that I’ll quite casually share with my close friends that I likely wouldn’t post on an internet forum…why?..well, because such a forum has a much wider audience. Up to a certain point I don’t hold myself accountable for offending someone through making a slightly risque joke/comment. Though, I would apologize If I honestly felt I’d said something needlessly offensive/insensitive etc

Their is often a certain ‘disconnect’ between what a person FEELS like they are saying to just a whole bunch of random internet guys & gals & the reality that you really don’t know at any given time who is reading your posts & HOW they are interpreting it.

If you wanna be all edgy, choose both your words & audience very carefully.

People have become enamored with self righteous indignation. You see these grandiose displays of it on these forums and most other social media sites all the time.

It’s like they’ve found a way to enjoy all the fun of being judgmental and snippy without having to acknowledge their complicity in everything that they do, every day, to virtually everyone that they come into contact with because they are self loathing insecure pricks whose sense of humor fled them like a drunken Filipino boy running from Jeffrey Dahmers apartment.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Free speech works both ways. If you want to say something edgy go ahead, but don’t be a pussy when someone calls you an asshole.

Nothing worse than whining free speech about someone else exercising their free speech lol

No shit. I’m so sick of this shit.

Free speech is not freedom from consequences of what you say.

You can’t tell your boss that he is a jerk and his wife is a drunken cow and cry free speech when youre fired.

Well you can, it just won’t change employment status.

That cancer boy poster is not funny to me. I saw way too many kids die in the 80s at Sloan Kettering while my little brother was there battling his own cancer (which at the time was not an easy cancer to kill).

However, my brother was reeling off cancer jokes like crazy, much to everyone’s distaste.

It’s despicable they kicked that girl out over this. The joke was a little lacking in taste but it was far from racist. Some people just look for a reason to start crying “that’s racist”. The people who made the decision to boot her are idiots with way too much power. They are way worse than she is.

She’s representing her country in games where many different countries are also represented. She would have been living with and competing against people of all different races and nationalities. It’s not only disrespectful to the fellow competitors but also irresponsible for her to make racists tweets and, in this case…the ‘‘thought police’’ was very much warranted. She should’ve kept her feelings to herself or at the very least, protected her tweets because Big Brother is always watching.

Yeah, we all have the freedom to say whatever the fuck we feel, but it doesn’t negate the consequences. If the company you work for doesn’t want you using racially offensive language then don’t be surprised if they sack you. The right to say something doesn’t mean you’re absolved from any consequence. They’re not taking away her human rights. It’s a privilege to represent your country in the Olympic games. Words have consequences.

And her ‘‘joke’’ wasn’t even fucking funny. Africans are bringing West Nile mosquitoes with them to Greece? It’s a big sign that your country is in the fucking shitter economically when you start taking cheap shots at the immigrants.

Racism should not be tolerated from people taking part in an event meant to bring races and countries together.

Time for the fucking bitch to grease a seat and watch the games from home.

See, I thought the mosquito joke was pretty funny in terms of inappropriate humor. It didn’t single out any individual victim while making light of a sad situation. It’s also primo shit talking between competing athletes.

It’s funny in the same vein as Dave Chapelle or Carlos Mencia, but when black people are the butt, look out! It’s institutionalized racism.

I didn’t say it was her right to free speech, I said it wasn’t racist. For a joke to be racist it has to imply something negative or at very least imply some kind of stereo type about a group of people. This joke does neither. At face value It simply is joke about the mosquitoes migrating to Greece then the people. Do we really want to start kicking athletes out of the olympics if they say something that some people think implies a racist attitude even if it’s not really clear it is racist?

This is a case of the Olympic officials getting sucked into the hysteria of the masses and making a very bad decision.

The tweet was stupid as hell and it forced the Olympic officials hands to do something. As they dared not do nothing, some form of reprimand was needed. As a representative of her nation, even if the officials hadn’t banned her she probably would have been recalled by the Greek Olympic committee.

You gotta be fucking kidding me. Reread what you’ve written right there and Go reread that ‘‘joke’’ and tell me if you don’t think that was exactly the bitch was doing. And if you can’t still see what she said was racist then maybe I’d probably bother to explain that to you. But hey, as usual, I’d be wasting my time.

As I said before, she was meant to represent her country at the Olympic games. She’s an athlete, a public figure. She would have been living and training with African athletes. If she wanted to joke about Africans and the mosquitoes, she could have done so without the need to go on Twitter. Well done to the officials for getting rid of her.

I bet had a German made some comment about Jews, the people supporting that stupid racist bitch would not have been so forgiving.

This incident is taken out of context. The tweet just gave them ammunition, they pretty much wanted a reason to throw her out before. The two major political parties have had intense verbal and physical altercations, well hers in particular. She made some statements a few weeks earlier and this put it over the top. Inappropriate behavior is tolerated differently based on who you are. An asshole gets away with significantly less then a happy go lucky funnyman

That joke isn’t racist.
Some mosquitoes carry west nile virus.
Some of the athletes are from that area.

I agree, it is not racist to say that Africans (she did not even specify black Africans, she just said Africans) come from Africa and that the West Nile virus originated in Africa, because those are true and it does not belittle Africans or in any way imply that they are inferior to anyone, she just said where they came from. If some people are so sensitive about their origins so as to think that anytime someone mentions where they come from is racist, that is their problem and I hope they overcome their insecurities.

It would have been racist and wrong of her to blame Africans for the virus or to say something along the lines of Africans are the ones who deserve to get sick, but merely observing that Africans come from Africa and so did the West Nile virus is most definitely not racist. Now, claiming that the mosquitoes in Greece came from Africa is incorrect, but that is another matter.

Honestly, if anyone should have been offended by that comment, it is the people who have been affected by the outbreak, but most people are fixating on the “Africans come from Africa” is racism aspect. Then again, this was mostly political to begin with. That girl was a controversial figure due to other comments she had made as well as her political affiliations and I am sure those had more then a little to do with the decision.

When it comes down to it, though, that girl should have just kept her mouth shut. She is a public figure competing in a political event, she should have just concentrated on her athletic goals instead of posting bullshit on the internet (yes, I recognize the irony). The problem is that with the invention of things like facebook and Twitter, people seem to want to post their every thought on the internet, and young people have never, in all of history, been good at knowing when to keep their thoughts to themselves.

Black people in Africa get bit by mosquitoes.

Negative?

Stereotype?

Everyone gets bit by mosquitoes.

Unless I am near, than I am getting bit by mosquitoes and nobody else does.

wrong!

Gingers do not get bit by mosquitos… they don’t like GingerPlasma apparently.

btw - isn’t it curious that the operative work in Mosquito is Mosque? like mosquitos are some Taliban plot hatched against the world to help spread thier ideals!!!
