In Memory of

The first real American Badass.

I remember uncles and older relatives listening to him but I never got into his stuff until later on.

Everything popular in music these days would be full of bubblegum and sunshine if it weren’t for guys like The Man in Black singing about dirty women, drinkin’, and doin’ time.

If you havent’ listened to some of his recent remakes of song like Soundgardens’ “Rusty Cage” or the popular Nine Inch Nails remake of “Hurt”, I recommend you do. His voice and musicianship layers a sort of darkness over every song he did.

A legend for sure.

B.

Amen, Brad.

Pardon my ignorance (you can’t know them all)…what is the name of this legendary badass?

My Bad,

Johnny Cash

Wow, I was just about to start this same thread myself. The Man in Black is a legend. He will be sorely missed by many as he joins his wife who passed away a few months ago.

If you’ve never heard his version of Hurt, do yourself a favor and download it today.

DAN C, you ignorant slut. Johnny Cash

Johnny frickin’ Cash

My introduction to Johnny was through Dylan’s Nashville Skyline. Still one of the greatest records I’ve ever heard. Came in late to work today and heard. New it was gonna be a shitty day from the moment I woke up.

Johnny Cash

Well, I’ll be…
This, my friend, is Johnny Cash.

Just a guy named Johnny Cash.

Or, a man called Sue.

We love ya, Johnny!!!

I had my classes listen to The Essential Johnny Cash three CD set today.

A sad day indeed.

amen.

He is my fathers generation, I grew up listening to The Man in Black with my dad.

I’m watching them all die over the last 5 years…

Shit. That means that someone will be watching all of us die over the coarse of 5 years sometime down the road, right? How depressing.

Johnny Cash was and always has been an idol to me in a way. Johnny has definitely fit the T-man standard of being your own man: his artistic creativity, ambition , devotion to his wife ect. On larry king live, larry said that his voice made grown men feel like pansies and this is true to life. We love and miss ya johnny

Steele,

hehe, no man, I don’t thin you’ll be dying

Just noting that my father, his brothers and all of there friends basically started dying all at once. It’s sad to see a whole generation start disappearing, that’s all.

I just can’t believe how much work he’s actually done. How many number 1 hits and records he has. Amazing.

When I was in the 6th grade I had to write a poem about Johnny Cash’s life.I checked a book out of the school library about Johnny Cash.(about 50 pages long) I think I wrote a pretty good poem but I couldn’t think of a word that rhymes with amphetamines.According to the book Johnny had a bit of a drug problem but I left that out of my poem…oh well

  KUDOS AND GOD SPEED,JOHNNY

Johnny Cash is definitely a music legend. I’ve always liked his style. It’s that old school country feel that let’s you know what real country music is about. People like Johnny, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings…they’re the real thing. I just get sick when I see over-produced garbage like Toby Kieth and posers like him. What rubbish! If I’m gonna listen to contemporary country then give me something with substance like Hank Williams III.

R.I.P. Johnny Cash
