That was really funny.
It’s true. He was really upset with the idea that I might stupid enough to back squat last night.
Still leaving off the back squats and cleans but working my over head and front squats.
50kg bar. 1 set every 30s. 16 total / 8 each.
8 push press
8 front squats
I’m beginning to get annoyed at the lack of clean and back squats. But the twinges of glute pain were there again tonight. I’m stretching. And doing glute bridge to help.
Did an hours walk today. Tried a work out. But my back thought that was a bad idea.
I need to find a way to exercise without squatting front or back. I think the bike is coming out…….
Zerchers? You got a trap bar?
No I’m croaked. This is a best left alone injury. Time and some talc will fix it.
Tonight I did 100 burpees, 100 press ups, 100 body weight squats.
5 sets of 20 for each.
So not worked out proper for a few days. However, I’m getting out and walking as often as possible/practical. Probably a Managing 2 1/2 to 3 miles a day and sticking fairly well to my diet complete dog shite diet.
On the injury front I’m in a lot less pain. However I’m taking a gram of naproxen every day.
500 mg the morning 500 in the afternoon. This is a fairly standard routine that I’ve used a couple of times.
So after 3 weeks off I managed a rudimentary work out tonight.
Timer to front squat with 60 kg into sat with Tabatha press ups.
I did not manage this all the whole eight minutes all the way through. I stopped at six. However, I’m glad to report I’m pain-free and I’m looking forward to getting back into it.
I don’t doubt I have lost on fitness however, I’m comfortable that in 3 to 4 weeks time I’ll be back to be able to perform the grace sub 245 and looking at an 80 to 90 kg 10 rep best on the log.
Great news, now Carlbm Jnr won’t be looking at you like your stupid! ![]()
Apparently, my son still thinks I’m very silly. He shot me somewhat of a dirty look like I’m inside very hot, very sweaty.
On the other hand, it felt really good to be back. Although today I have been somewhat tender.
Tomorrow I’m busy with a work event, but I should be doing staples and other exercises Sunday.
Another quick workout tonight, the same as last time. However, significant progress in the fact that I completed the eight minute timer. I feel a lot fitter stronger than I did just a few days ago. Which is good and I’m hopeful that I’ll continue to improve.
Also, no back pain to speak of.
Two days two work outs. I’m on a roll.
Did Grace with my strongman log in two minutes, 54 seconds. I’m very very happy with this I thought I dropped a lot more in terms of cardiovascular fitness. And to be honest strength. However, this was fairly uneventful. I know it was pretty much as much as I had today.
Some small lower back tightness. However, on a positive note, I have organise myself some physiotherapy for this. I’ve got a wait for a little while before it comes around. However, I’m going nowhere in the mean time.
On a personal note, train from my job is still going well all things being equal. I shall be in the community on eminence by the middle of October.
So here, I am for five days later, after my last workout. And I’ve been struggling with a stone cough and cold since then. That is my first workout little while. I have 40 reps of a 60 kg log. It wasn’t fast and I struggled like hell. In fact at one point I think I was about to give up after 20 reps. But I persevered, I made a workout out of it. For which I am very happy.
Video to be uploaded shortly. And please don’t judge my capacity on this work out. Still feeling a bit rough but next weekend I expect to get 45 of these out in under six minutes. Working hard to double Grace under six minutes.
So another quick workout tonight.
100 kg front squat-two sets of 10 reps
Pullups five sets of two reps
Press ups two sets of 20
Press ups, one set of 10 (with a 20 kg weight on my back)
Rowing 20 seconds on 10 seconds off. Four bouts.
Another very similar workout. Trying to keep these the same so I can monitor progress.
Front squat, 110 Kg 2x10
Pullups 2,2,2,3
Press up 2x10 with 20 kg sandbag on my back
Sled pulls - I think I’ve done six in the end. I have a little boy with me he was doing sled pulls as well. And I had to pull the sled back as he couldn’t manage there and back without a big rest.
Overall, very successful. Feel like I’m approaching somewhere near a reasonable level of strength and fitness.
A bit of a weird session today. I felt very very weak from the pit set. Still managed one set of front squats, 120 kg for eight reps and was attempting Grace. I manage 24 reps in two minutes 10 seconds. That’s before my right shoulder completely give up I had no pressing strength left.
Workouts are coming very few and far between elements of work are really heating up. However, I continue to do what I can what I can.
A morning off this morning. Decided to do an old workout.
60 kilos squats 10 reps,push-ups 10 reps seven minutes total.
managed six sets of each which is okay. the main factor slowing me down is my press up strength which is somewhat embarrassing. I should be able to do 70 press-ups straight through, and today I struggled to get to 60 over 7 minutes. good news is although my back is tight it is not painful. And even though I’m not aware I want to be I’m working to get there.
Also over the last five weeks I’ve managed to drop almost 5 kilos in body weight from 109.5 kilos 105.0 kilos. I will continue the diet until I am below 100 kilos and then reassess how I look how I feel.
Managed a trip to the gym today.
Pull ups - 6&2
Rowing - 5 Tabatha sets.
Really quick. I’m working out tomorrow as well. I will be doing front squats and sled pulls. Followed buy OHP.
Tonight only had 10 minutes to warm up and get my workout done. The joys of juggling a full-time job 1 part-time job, two kids, a wife, a dog & two cats.
Rather than do the Grace which is hard but limits me to about three or four minutes worth of exercise I decided to go for the squat press up work out.
60 kilos squat 10 reps, press up 10 reps. 7 mins total.
I managed 7 rounds of each. This is a PB over the recent few months. And I’m very very happy.
My press up strength seems to be returning very quickly and I’m experiencing no real discomfort in my squats. The next trick is to elongate this workout to 10 minutes with the current weights and then potentially get up to 70 80 90 even 100 kilos.
Fairly successful work out tonight. I managed 130 kg front squats for six reps. This is a the best over the last six months.
I follow up with a few back squats. Has hoped for to multiple sets of 8-10. I managed three sets of six.
This is obviously a disappointment. However, given the lack of attention of given back squats and a very light weight of a using have done them I can’t really grumble.
I’ve always said that I use front squats as my primary/athletic lift. I found them to be much better for sports performance. However, I would like to get back to that be able to do at least 15 reps of 130 kg. And get my max, somewhere near the 175, 180 kg mark.
