In It for the Long Run: 260kg Deadlift, 200kg Front Squat, 130kg Log Press

@ChongLordUno and @simo74 - I got my boys doing Burpees and a 10lt press.

Just for fun.

Exit. Just realise 10lt press make no sense to anyone but me. It’s a 10lt tub. So it weighs about 10kg. I use that rather than weighs as it’s a bit more awkward. And they find it fun.
Just thought I’d share the love as Chongs Burpees are taking over my house and Simos been training with his boy.

Could you not find any Cool Whip?

Haha love it mate. Get them told!!

They love it mate. I genuinely think kids love to be exercised. It feels good right? They just did a bit of copying. But it’s all good

I keep seeing this. Where did it all comes from?

A poster came on here a while back wondering why he wasn’t making any progress, physique wise. Turns out he was eating Cool Whip for breakfast on the regular.

And when called out on it, took to inform us that it’s really not so bad when you look at the macros, haha.

To be fair, it probably wasn’t the main reason he wasn’t happy with his progress, it was just emblematic of the many, many, many issues.

It was a fantastic demonstration of how much these kids focus on ENTIRELY the wrong thing. He had this “genetics narrative” ingrained in his head SO much that he was missing that he started his day off with garbage processed hydrogenated vegetable oils and, when called out on it, STILL only focused on the macronutrient profile instead of what the f**k the food actually was.

In between having no knowledge and having a lot of knowledge is a dangerous. You ask any yahoo off the street “is Cool Whip a good breakfast if you want to be healthy and fit?” and they’ll say “Of course not”. You ask anyone with a lot of experience and knowledge that same question, same answer. Take some guy that’s been watching a bunch of youtube videos? “Well, if it fits your macros…”

Jason Ferrugia did a great blog post on this years ago: we all know most of the right answers, we just try and weasel out of them because broccoli is yucky and squats hurt our egos knees.

You know what I really wondered how that reference got past me. A thread that spawns quips like that is always fun. But it turned out I was in there for maybe 1-2 posts. I remember looking at it one day with 50+ new posts and I thought: Nope. Nothing good has come of that.

Like the 1rep max discussion at the moment.

IIFYM - if it works for you great. But it’s not working. It “might” be the aerosoled sugar&fat mix you eat for breakfast

I forget what coach of was but they wrote something for Tnation and it was along the lines of:
Here’s is my diet advice. I use this with Pro BBers.
No there is nothing new or sexy about it. Yes you know it all already. So go and do it.

Bit slow here mate but just wanted to say how cool it was getting the kids involved, It always amazes me how easy kids move their bodies through space and time. If you can get them interested young in any kid of physical activity then it has so many benefits for them. Good dad setting a good example. Well done sir.

Thank you.

Agreed. And it upsets me when people don’t let their kids do stuff. Kids are meant to be active. Ours started young. We used to take them for a walk in the early evening. So they would be true for bed. Well - each week that walk got longer. Suddenly your 2 year old can walk a mile or two and not need a sleep.

Untold benefits. Not just physical. Strong mind strong body. But it also applies the other way round. Strong body string mind.
And getting strong not only requires a strong mind. It cultivates one. Determination and discipline after traits you can grow.

I could rant about that all night.

But again thank you . Being a good father is all I really want to be

Today was the day I took the Burpees to 8&9’s. I regretted doing this. I was 50/50 not going to even work out today. I feel a bit crap. But I did and now I feel better.

So 8’s on odd, 9’s on even burpees - EMOM x10

Blegh

Video to come

No video - but squat S/S press up X10

Sets in 5mins. Stayed at 60kg as it’s been a while. But I should have gone to 80.
Managed 7 sets. But I’m “flat out”. Time to go heavier. Not more reps.

Also - woke up at 111.0 today. Very happy. I’m on for 110kg early next week

Off day yesterday. I had 4h sleep as I’m flitting between night and days again. Also “semi fasted”. Ate about 1000 calories. No need for any more.

Today:
Squat X10
Press up x12
Set s in 5 mins.

Tuesday
Front squat - 140kg for AMRAP
With drop sets, back squats and yoke

Wednesday
Burpees

Thursday
Press - AMRAP

Friday
240 reps

Saturday - RUGBY

Edit:
Changed Mondays work out. And did work out

Get 5 full sets.not happy not sad. I was not keen for this work out. Felt shitty all-day. Nights / days / nights still toying with me.

Hey @T3hPwnisher just another tag to say I read your blog again this week. And it can’t be any more in tune with what I’m seeing now.
I caught myself in the mirror this week. And I’m looking better now (bigger upper body) than I ever have done. And 2 people have told me I’m looking bigger. Even thought I’m 11/12lb down.
I credit the sheer number of press ups I’m doing. At a minimum its 200/week for my chest. And 120 rows and 200 dead lifts with the sand bag I get through. And that is with out the strength work I’m doing.

I’m also liking growing my “training density”. I have a theory that training density is more important that most people think. I say “I have a theory” - its CT theory that I’m starting to believe. But so far it looks to be right.

Perhaps I will see my abs again some day soon. In 2022 no less!
