In It for the Long Run: 260kg Deadlift, 200kg Front Squat, 130kg Log Press

God - I’m so fucked. Only slept 5 hour last night. @Koestrizer - working off of your hymn sheet I think.

Front squat - 130kg for 7. Not quiet a PR - but a PR on the axle. Which I find MUCH hard. So compared to any axle bar front squat I think it is a PR. I’ll take it.
Back squat - 130kg for 10. I might have made 20. But I have work again tonight. In fact I’m awake now for the next 16h and I’m already falling asleep at the laptop. Good times.

Nothing else. To fucked.

Push press:
90kg for 8
Incline bench:
80kg for 3x10
Close grip bench
80kg for 2x6 should have gone lighter for more reps.

Oh God I hate back work outs. Split this from my push press as I had time issues yesterday.

Seal row
55kgx 10 (lat 2 reps a touch short)
55kgx4, 45x4 30x6 20x12.

Flies, face pulls and curls for high volume.

So I have a news”something every day” motto.
Today I thought I’d start with clean and press 60kg.
3sets
10, 6, 4.

Not loads but enough to get the old heart working.

This might be a staple now. I just have to sort out where it’s landing. I cannot l fuck up my grass by keep dropping the bar. And dropping it onto concrete is a bad idea.

Any option to umm… not drop it?

When I do similar workouts, I often do it on concrete floors in a cramped garage. I have to forego the fun part of dropping a bar from overhead so I don’t break stuff. Probably get more work in too, certainly seems to fry my grip something fierce.

Catching up on the journals slowly, see your comments on the dark side, just curious did you ever get that blood test done?

Good job on just getting stuff done - doing better than me in that regard!

What? And not get that satisfying thump. I bet you’re the sort of guy that puts his deadlifts back down as well! You sicken me.

However its a pain on the lower back. I can put it down and I do have some tires I can use as a crash mat. But I would be better with something a touch better.

I did not. I lost my job and stuff and £90 a month on TRT suddenly became a luxury WELL beyond me. I not on the dark side either. I was legitimately about to. But I’ve had to step back from comps. I can feel the temptation creeping in. And if there is one thing I can not resist it is temptation.

Lots of work out not quite as I want them. I’ve not hit a leg day proper in a month. BUT I’m doing something. But we all get distracted. And this is only a hobby. Go easy on yourself. And don’t not do something because it is not what you wanted to do. I’ve re learnt that this month. It is better to light a candle than moan about the dark. And it is better to spend 15 mins squatting then moaning about not having enough time to train lol.

It makes me sad too. I take full advantage of any time I’m in a gym with a platform and bumpers.

Having had to previously dig out a bar that had buried itself down to the knurling in the ground though, it’s probably the better option.

I too have done this. You are not alone!

It’s a weird feeling as the satisfaction from seeing it buried slowly drains away and the realisation slowly dawns that you now have a half buried bar and two foot deep holes in your lawn.

This. The first time I did a clean and jerk and dropped it.!” The sudden realisation I’d relandscaped was shocking.

Deadlift:
Kept Tm the same as I only hit 4 reps last time. I was ill and thought I had more but there is no harm in a lower TM.

So 205kgx6 2 rep gain. Well kinda .

180kg for a set then ssb GM. 80kg or 3 sets. And done

Press 80kg - kept my TM the same even after hitting 5 reps last month. And if I’m honest was hoping for 6 reps. Only got 5. I went for 6 but got stuck at the bottom for a moment and gave it up. Not gonna grind a rep out.
I will up my Tm this month.

BTNP - 3 sets of 10 50kg

Pull ups 5 sets of &3 to full depth.

3x10 DB high high incline bench (like 80degrees)
Cable rows 3x13 at 13

Then giant set

Lat rise / curls / Tate press
Rather than chase reps I select a weight for each and rep out

5kg/15kg/10kg

Tate Press?

Yeah - my old coach introduced me to them. They are really good. I really feel them and I’ve had some real arm growth since I’ve added them. I’ve added a link for the tutorial below.

Talking about my old coach. I bumped into him today. He did something VERY special the other day. I’ve asked his permission to share this.
450kg (maybe 455Kg?) reverse banded (so a touch lighter at the bottom). But DAM. That is massive.

He is a strong, strong boy. Quick maths tells me that’s a thousand pound Squat?

It is. 1000lb. I mean the gym I got to has some strong dudes. I see 250kg squats and dead lifts done for reps most weeks.

But this is very special. He (the guy in the video) is peaking for a meet in December. I’m not sure what his target is. But what ever it is I’m confident he’ll get it. He is just that sort of guy.
He was at a meet and 0/2 on the squat at 380kg. But the target was always 400kg that day. So on his final lift he put 400kg on the bar and went for broke. Made the lift.

He is just that guy. Who always gets there. Some how. And (I’ll say this) a nice guy as well.

So the secret to my new “something everyday” will be me seeing the worth in it.
And thrusters are that worth me thinks. And maybe light yoke carries.

Burpees are good. As are other bits and bobs. But smashing out some high rep/semi heavy thrusters will feel cool as all hell. As will 100m yoke carriers. Even if they are a touch light (thinking 140kg).

To this end I need a goal. The grace WOD is 30 clean and jerk :man_lifting_weights: As fast as possible with 60kg. I think this is a worth goal with thrusters.
I think yoke will be interval based.
If I can get to 100m E2MO2M with 140kg I should be doing okay.
I’m going to start with this Thursday after leg day. Yay. Hopefully this will encourage me to work out properly a bit more also.
