Really sorry to read about the challenges you are going through @thehokiefloyd, I can’t imagine how difficult they must be. Stay strong, this is a great community of people all trying to do the right thing for themselves and each other.
Sorry if you’ve posted somewhere else, but would self treatment ever be an option for you? I’ve read some post they source their test UGL and self dose TRT based on knowledge gained in this and other forums/research. Wondering if that could be an alternative option?
Sorry hrdlvn, I’m just frustrated. I’m going to go looking for the guy at the gym you’re talking about, it’s been awhile since I knew any of those types of guys. I’m relatively new to the Eastside of Nashville and it’s all posh and crap…got to figure out how to get to know these guys and how they are. They’re their, they are just not the type of guys I usually chum around with…I’m sure they’re not really that different from the more personal guys at the other gyms I’ve worked out at.
And I promise I’m not going to kick AI’s in the dirt.
It’s life brother. I’ll be ok, just had an oh shit moment. I do value our community, I just lost my shit a couple hours ago.
Yeah, if it comes down to it self treatment will be my avenue. I just don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable here man. No one should have to feel like they’re potentially stepping on thin ice to get someone off a frozen lake.
Crises averted, I think. I called the sales rep at Royal about the doctor that wanted to put me on Anastrozole compounded with the Testosterone in the vial. I told him that the doc rushed me along and said he would talk to the doctor about giving me Anastrozole separately. He called me back 5 minutes later and said that the Anastrozole would come separately as a pill instead. So, I’m hoping when the Test-c arrives later this week or next week I won’t have to get on an AI right away…at least not till my SHBG dives. If I have it on hand and need it, it’ll be there down the road for me.
God I hope the rep wasn’t BS’ing me. I’ll be updating my TRT log tomorrow when I’m not so damned exhausted.
Me too…whew that freaked me out. The doctor was just like this is what we’re doing and he didn’t really listen all that much. He was in a hurry to get off the phone. I called the sales rep who asked why I preferred the Anastrozole on the side and explained that I’ve crashed my E2 to low numbers. He said “no problem, lemme talk to the doc”. Called me back 5 minutes later and boom, the prescription put my AI on the side.
So I have an appointment on the 1st hopefully he will agree to at least adjust my dose if not ill try to get him to drop the script. Don’t know how I’m going to get him to start up some hCG though.
You said your doctor only responds to science based medicine studies. Look up hCG studies and pick out some ncbi studies. Major University articles and medical journals have great information on the web too.
So the problem with that is I spend a large percent of my job floating around on a boat in the middle of the ocean with a bed and locker surrounded by about 20 other guys. If I don’t have a script for it and I’m seen using it I’m jobless. If some one goes and tells the XO they think I’m not using my scripts properly and he searches my locker I get the boot. If some one complains that the feel uncomfortable with the way I’m storing needles and they toss my locker…ect. The CG absolutely doesn’t mess around with anything pharmaceutical and unlike a bunch of the other services we do not have a large amount of people using gear with people willing to turn a blind eye because it makes them better at their jobs. While I’m in I must play the game by the rules. I have a couple of studies to take to him next appointment we see what he is willing to do so far he has been willing to work with me and I’m going to take that as far as I can.
You should consider contacting Defy. Join them and you have your script and its only 70 bucks for 12,000iu and they will mail it to you. The call is free see what they say.
Does the military have a law you can’t use a private doctor? Do you have to use base docs?
Good question, I was wondering this myself. I was under the impression that military service only allows military docs while serving in active duty.
I’ve never asked this question to any of my friends who are vets but I’d really like to know. Based on what my friends who’ve served have said, they recieved care from military docs and sanctioned military hospitals…on the other hand, the men I know were mostly in combat overseas or stationed out of the states. I wouldn’t imagine that those enlisted get a choice of PCP’s, much less specialists in a medical field…it just doesn’t seem to fit with what I’ve heard about military doctrine…at all. Bureaucracy seems extremely heavy handed when it comes to dealing with G.I.'s @melthir
I keep hearing guys on this thread suggesting the use of telemedicine clinics to help you out of your situation. If I’m wrong and that’s permissible, then give it a shot.
But if you can’t use a telemedicine clinic, let us know so people stop suggesting it as an option and can get a better idea of how to help guide you around some of the other obstacles your dealing with.
Before hearing a couple people suggesting Defy in this post I was dead-to-rights sure that you had to use an approved military doc…especially for TRT. Am completely I naive for thinking this?
I don’t mind being educated otherwise, it wouldn’t be the first time I was wrong…but I thought everyone knew you couldn’t go outside the military for this kind of medical treatment so now I feel like an idiot for thinking this was military law.
Will the doc prescribe Scrotal Cream instead of injectables? Gels and creams applied to the upper arms and other parts of the body are generally thought to be ineffective but Scrotal Creams are the exception to this rule from what I’ve studied and heard from others.
Many even prefer Scrotal Creams over the injectables.
I think any care your military doctor can’t provide requires a referral. Not sure however if this would necessarily include TRT. I mean, you could go to a wellness clinic and get B12 shots, I don’t think this would fall under the referral requirement.
I’m pretty sure You can use a private doc. Well sure you can. It’s not like there going to question and say “where’s your money coming from? Military! Sorry can’t help”… it’s a simply mail package that you receive to your ships address and that’s all… nothing special.
On the other hand you have to make a choice. Share my illness and issues with military or let the private doc not tell them. I think that’s the problem. But can they deny you this TRT care if a medical private professional diagnoses you with hypogadism or whatever you have?
Yeah, I’m wondering where they draw the line? I would think prescription medications would be a big hassle.
I know they are tight ended about easily obtainable items that can’t be recieved without a script outside the U.S.
If an enlisted serviceman was stationed in central America they could walk into a pharmacy and grab a vial of Sustanon pretty easily. If they were in some of the Balkan regions, OTC Codeine could be obtainable though I’m pretty sure that could be grounds for dismissal.
Melthir is obviously in the U.S., however, I am very curious how this would affect his ability to obtain a controlled substance locally or if his doc would give him permission to seek outside help on this kind of matter. I’m going to ring up a couple friends of mine today and see what their experience is?
Regarding military doctor referrals for sustained treatment of a controlled substance, I’m thinking this might be a big “hell no” as far as telemedicine clinics are concerned but I hope this is not the case.
He could have saved himself a lot of BS already and would have a hassle free treatment experience in the future.
He’s located on a Ship. This is US territory and it has an address like my house. It just takes longer to get to the sailor, but it will get there and it will not cost anymore than shipping normally.
Just find a way to ensure you don’t run out. I hear it can take 10-15 days to receive a package. That would sizuuuuuckkkkkk
