I'm Going Bald!

I’d rather not shave it at this point.

And I don’t believe that wanting to stop further hair loss is a desperate attempt to regain my youth. Well, not anymore so then wanting to stay fit and active.

What’s killing me is that my hair was such a large part of my identity. It was really long (led zeppelin style) up until 7 years ago and all women loved it. People I barely knew would call me Samson; that’s how nice it was! Man, I cannot believe that it’s coming to an end.

I think that I’m still in shock, as its only become obvious to me this week that its disappearing.
They were making fun of you.

Yes.

But then, I’m bald by choice.
you and me both brother, my hair is actually ridiculously thick if i let it grow, but i shave it bald about every other day. The other day my professor in my MBA curriculum joked about bald guys and said don’t worry Steve i fee your pain, i replied, actually i don’t feel your pain because i shave my head by choice.

I’m 22 and thinning like crazy. I just keep cutting it shorter and it still looks good. Eventually I’m going to have to start shaving it, I used to have it shaved in high school but got lazy in college.

For what it’s worth, I have a thing for bald/balding guys.

So do a lot of women.
Bald men are defiately sexy.

Provided you have a decently-shaped head, shaving it will be the best decision you ever make.

Also, in my experience adult women tend to think a man with long hair is either a narcissist (if he’s well groomed) or a dirtbag. If you shave it, you’ll attract the women who like that look (there are many) and you’ll still have a chance with the women who don’t necessarily like bald guys but who are attracted to confidence (have you ever met one who wasn’t?).

shave that shit man! i was a junior in college when my hair started thinning out nicely. i was a lifeguard and getting out of the water, i could easily see that my long flowing locks were on their last leg. so after buzzing it with clippers for a year, i decided to embrace it and whipped out the mach 3.

been shaving it for about 2 years now and have no complaints. ive since forgotten what it felt like to have hair so no worries. luckily, my head isnt shaped all conehead-like, so that was a plus.
Lonnie123 wrote:
I’m at the point where I buzz my head with the 1/2 inch clippers.
That’s the same length clippers I use, 1/2 inch. That is, when I’m not in summertime mode, which is to be completely shaven.

Also, I’d grown the mustache, soul patch and van dyke, which helps to even things out. As if my dead hairs just moved south on my skull, or something.

That’s the way a man’s supposed to look, according to nature. And so balding and bearded are sex symbols to human women like the silver back on a gorilla is sexy to his kind.

Don’t be one of those ponytail Kenny G queefs though! That is a crap coping mechanism. For real, which is manlier: facial hair or “Fagio”?

Bring the hair space forward, not back. Gives the skull definition on both ends. Put that hair around your chompers, drawing attention to the masculine jaw. Flashing white teeth, like your going to go rabid and start biting titties! The ladies love that.

But a ponytail says some dude’s going to grab you by it while he rides your ass, Michael Bolton! Forget that.

Anyways, I lost a ton of hair at age 22, then it seemed to slow or stop (I’m now 26). Saw palmetto might have helped. Well, probably not, but at least it’s supposed to keep DHT under wraps (the natural way).

Just roll with the punches and get a new style. Enjoy the seasons of life.

Consider yourself lucky. My grandpa was completley bald, Im talking Mr Burns bald, by the time he was 21. Think about it.

Post up or Shut Up. Who is the most bald. Lets turn this seemingly man-killing syndrome into the most manly thing there is: a competition.

22 Years Old

I can also relate. I used to have real long hair in my late teens - early 20’s, started noticing a thin spot on top, I shaved the shit off within weeks of the discovery. I was bummed at first and a little insecure but you will get used to it.
I recommend using clippers. If you lift, and your neck and traps are big, you’ll look alright. I’m sure there are plenty of women that don’t dig balding guys but I’m here to tell you there are plenty more that do like it or don’t give a shit.
The best thing about the buzzed dome is you can shower and be out the door in less than 10 min.

EMBRACE THE BALDNESS!!

Is there any way to have a good guess of whether I’ll lose my hair early?

Rockscar: I not into the Mr. Clean look for myself either. I’m very fair skinned and have little muscle mass, so I would basically look like Powder (movie). Ok, I’m exaggerating, but that’s how I would feel.

TheSicilian : Similarly to you I’m only interested in trying hair loss/ re-growth products once. If it works without too many negative side effects I’ll be happy, if not I will shave my hair. I want to at least try it once.

Oh, and I wouldn’t believe that wearing a hat would cause you to lose your hair. The websites on the topic says this as well.

Gohan: You can call me BK. Mr. BK is my father. (niuk niuk sign) Moving right along, thanks for the advice. I’m taking note of the different products people have had success with and I will give them a try. Don’t worry, not all at the same time. If you don’t mind me asking, why have you stopped taking finasteride? Too expensive or was it not doing what you had hoped?

Professor X: What about if I took that thinning tuft of hair off the very top of my head into a ponytail pointing to the sky? Would that make me look younger? I know that a lot of babies have that coif. (ha ha)

dre: Agreed. I’m no where near “beach ready”, but I’m also working on that issue.

lovefire: Did I say I was balding? No, no, I meant to say that I’m completely bald

WhiteCaesar: I think that you’re right about women’s perception of men with long hair. But shaving it is the other extreme. I’m looking for a happy medium.

Kailash: Please, don’t start on the “what nature wants” argument! (ha ha) Nature wanted women to have bushy armpits and nether regions and didn’t expect them to dye their hair if they didn’t like the original color. I’m glad women ignored what nature wanted.

Lonnie123: I don’t have a digital camera or even a cell phone. Well, ok, that’s not entirely true. I just won a Motorola Q but I’m trying to sell it because I don’t plan on activating it.

Oh, and BTW, you beat me!

matt88 : I’m still working on that “get muscular” thing. Quick question, should I keep my BF% below 10% when bulking? JOKING! (ha ha)

BK,

In RE: to the Proscar/Finasteride, it worked great. Again, I don’t think I’ve ever experienced regrowth of hair, per se, but that and the Nioxin really helped stop the hairloss.

After being on the Nioxin for about 4 months along with the Finasteride, I wanted to see which product was really “doing the work.” After my prescription was used up, and I noticed no further hairloss, I determined that Nioxin was all I really needed. Haven’t used anything else since then. Hope that helps!

Attached is a pic of my head at age 23, taken a few minutes before my first shave. Oddly enough, I haven’t lost much more hair in the three years since then.

EDIT: Just read that apple tip in the recent Canis Diris article. That might have helped stall the hair loss for me, since I never ate apples before as I have in the past couple years.

Yes.

Yep, me too. Although I dont use a razor. I use a norelco body groomer, and shave it on the lowest number. Gives me that “dude from Transporter” look.

I didn’t metion this in my first post, but after reading the responses for the OP to start Propecia, I had to chime in.

Propecia made me feel like absolute SHIT! I was light headed/dizzy, and I began to have some tenderness under my nippys. If you ask me, having some extra hair is not worth gyno! I think I had a very rare response, but it is definitely worth thinking about.

When I get home tonight, maybe I will post some pics and show you all up!

Problem solved!

That is odd. In the clinical trials there was a correlation with propecia and gyno but the occurence of gyno in the placebo group was exactly the same - less than one percent. I’ve been on propecia for about 5 months (I only had minor thining at my crown) and my hair is much thicker and almost back to normal.

My test levels are perfectley normal. I have heard though that propecia can lower androgens, but not significantly. If you can afford it, give it a try.

This is what my endocronolgist told me also. I believe that it wasn’t actually gyno, but simply tenderness. With me, there seemed to be some inflammation too. I can’t say for sure about side effects, but I know I didn’t like it.
