And this is why you have no integrity as a man. It shows you have a boyish and effeminate outlook on life.
Apathetic? More like fat, lazy, fickle, uneducated simpletons.
LOL.
Facts derail threads when Nick is involved. His entire political view is based on utopia, i.e, a fairy tale.
It was all about ratings. Let’s be honest.
Everyone except you Ze. You’re special.
Did I strike a nerve? You should have told me you were from Alabama.
No sir. I just know how brilliant you are.
I wish I lived in Alabama.
Can you tell my wife that?
You must live in New Jersey.
I think you have to pick one.
You’re correct. I thought this was the Coronavirus thread.
Yes.
I don’t think there’s much question about that.
Worse, upstate NY. Not the city! Closer to Canada that NYC. Actually I love where I live, but despise the rule I’m under. Plotting my escape to a free state currently. Finally got the family on board. One more year and on to greener pastures.
So this discussion started with you saying this.
I think we came to the conclusion that the war was due to the confederate states seceding, but secession was due to the US government not allowing slavery (or freeing slaves that the confederate states thought were property).
I used to have a similar line of thinking that it was much more about states rights. I had to dig into it a bit to find that the actual state rights in question revolved around maintaining slavery. I am glad I was incorrect on the cause of the war, and that the government did something about the untenable practice of slavery.
Again, the war was not fought to free slaves. That was not the motivation behind the actions of either side.
Is it reasonable to say that if the US government did not care about freeing slaves that they would have just dropped the whole thing, as that is what was causing the South to secede?
It just seems to me that if you don’t really care about the issue you are going to war over, that you would just drop it.
The United States really did care about the issue behind the war: Bringing the Southern States back into the U.S. What do you think the U.S. would have just dropped?
If the US government didn’t care all that much about slavery, wouldn’t it have been easier to just give the Southern states slavery, since they were leaving the Union because of it?
To me it seems the North (US govt.) and South could not come to an agreement on the issue of slavery. The South left the Union over it, and the North fought a war to stop secession.
I am just saying if you didn’t care about slavery that just giving the South what they want would sure be a lot easier than fighting a war, since both actions result in the South returning to the Union.
It seems the North did in fact care about freeing slaves.
No. When I look at films from the golden age of Hollywood and movies today, I think boyish and effeminate is a good description of many American males.
There are no free states. On the bright side, there are idiots in all of them.
It was fought to keep slaves…see what I did there?
Nick is just engaging in revisionist history. The south fought a war to keep slavery; you could see why they would want to revise that. I mean, my grandfather fought a war to kill nazis. Saying your great great grandfather fought a war to preserve slavery doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
I would have guessed you lived in Louisiana as that’s often the only state behind Alabama typically in list of shittiest states.
Not that I have much to say being from small town Kansas all my life but we are in the middle range typically. Lower end. But they don’t take weather into account and our weather sucks.
The difference between TN and NY is immense.
