Illinois NRA Exec. Letter

Of course, it isn’t really Obama that concerns me, but his understudy.

If you can’t get a whole rifle a cheaper alternative is to buy the reciever then just buy a parts kit.

It’s also a good idea to stock up on high capacity magazines. Because you know they are going to go after those again too.

Interesting note: The new form 4473 has a few new boxes. In addition to long gun or pistol there are now boxes for frames and receivers. Now the .gov knows whether you’re buying an evil black rifle or if you’re just a Fudd.

EDIT: So buy your rifle as a full rifle instead of just a receiver.
Parts of the gun have always been considered full guns: FAL uppers, AR lowers, 1911 frames.

My advice is to buy a mill and a lathe and some 80% receivers and frames of various types. There are also plenty of blueprints available at Roderus Custom gunworks.

The machinery and tooling is rather expensive, but so is being disarmed.

I am using my Garand when “they” come for me.

Nice. I have a friend of mine who has been buying lots of Garands from the CMP. I really like the sights. I don’t exactly know why, but that peep sight looks a lot cleaner to me than when I look through my AR.

That said, I keep telling the guy to buy either an AR or an M1A. 30-06 might be a great round ballistically speaking, but you aren’t going to be able to find large amounts of it in one place, which is what you’re going to need for a semi-auto. Lots of people have 30-06, but only in small amounts for their deer rifles.

mike

And the cheap Greek army surplus .30-06 is drying up. Of course, you can get the Garand in 7.62x51. Springfield Armory and Fulton Armory are the places to go for this. Fulton also will also rebarrel a 30-06 Garand for .308.

If you like the M1, Mike, you’ll love the M14, which is essentially a Garand with an improved gas system and a removable box magazine. The sights on the M14 and the Garand are identical, except that the rear elevation knob on the M14 is gradated in meters rather than yards.

I love the Garand, except for the “clang” of the ejected clip.

I have been concidering the M14. I like that you can run .308s throught them. I have been thinking about a new rifle as well and a .308 would fit the bill.

Alot of people seem to like the AR15 but I don’t really have a need for a .223. Can these be converted to an M4? That would be fun.

Gun sales are up nationwide. Especially assault rifles.
We’ll see Barrett 50 BMG on the anti-gun hit list this time. Like fully auto weapons, it’s the mere idea that these exist in civilian hands that incenses anti-gunners.

Ronnie Barrett won’t sell any to federal law enforcement if they try to ban them. He made that threat last time they tried to do the same and congress took Barrett rifles off of their ban list.

Of course, how many Barretts have actually been used in crimes? None.

Well, a 50 caliber rifle is definitely one candidate for home manufacture. Pick up a copy of Bill Holmes’ book and video before they’re banned.

Those books didn’t get good reviews.
