Too bad…they have people here representing their states acting like selfish assholes about their so called “loss.”

Are you saying that, since damage is relatively way less in Ohio and Indiana, that the people in those states should pay way proportionally less for repairs and rebuilding from the hurricane?

Thank you for finally admitting you are wrong. See, it wasn’t that bad, to admit you’re an ignorant putz. You did fine.

Really? Don’t try to shimmy out of your own selfishness now…lol. What I posted is what I said…stop twisting the truth to suit your selfish agenda. Admit that you have no stance…or are you truly as shallow as you perceive to be. Am I still doing fine? :)[/quote]

Now what they know about the banana and mayonnaise…

Why is it wrong to be selfish? Then, if I am unselfish and help you, are you being selfish in accepting my help?

Your logic is impeccable. If we each pay 40% of our income in taxes (for ex), then since a lot more money is being spent in Texas than in Ohio, then proportionally I am paying more of your repair bills.

You may thank me now, but realize I was against the whole idea of paying someone else’s bills in the first place. I only make ‘contributions’ of this sort against my will…kind of like being required to ‘volunteer’. I do not like slavery.

Depends on how you’re helping…charity is one thing…but how your(our) government uses the taxes dollars WE pay is another…so once again…you have no stance. Your beef is with the governmen, genius. Oh,and help isn’t always in monetary value.

Thanks

Then have a rebellion :stuck_out_tongue:

A rebellion is pointless because most people still think its moral to use governmental force to impel one person or group to help another. Look at how we all get to ‘help’ the banks.

Until humans actually and truly believe that force is morally unacceptable, no matter what the purpose, the world will be an abattoir.

HH… I bet you are jerking off each time you post hoping to rile these folks up and unfortunately they respond to your made up trash.

You are despicable.

Take the debate to the Politics forum. Leave this one thread to people in the situation sharing their experiences and those who are concerned.

You are such a played out venom spewer.

Oh good, more quarreling between the thinking people and the pseudointellectuals! I was hoping for some more discussion to help me kill some time while I wind down afer an arduous morning of robbing, looting, and rebuilding my vacation home

I see HH has still failed to grasp any of the points made by FTG, let alone respond to them with anything other than “Yes, um, well. . .Uh, you have more roads so you’re stealing MY money.”

Aaaanyway. . .I just read that it will likely be November before all the traffic lights are restored around town. Bummer.

And I missed that argument! Either way he would have to quantify the comparative cost of more roads in Texas vs. the amount of taxes collected in relation to the amount of taxes collected in Ohio compared to road, and more accurately infrastructure costs.

The quantification of the issues at hand and weighted average comparisons based on those conclusions seem to be the hang up. His argument is still bunk.

Are you fucking kidding me? That has been the worst part of the whole ordeal! Where did you hear this?

I just want to know when this curfew will be over.

Do you folks get mail yet?

Is there anything folks outside of the area can do for you?

How can I help you? I’ve donated, but it would be great if there was something specific or direct I could do.

In the chronicle. The wikepedia of newspapers if you ask me, so, you know–grain of salt and all that.

I was getting my mail the Monday after the hurricane. We were wondering if the USPS had a secret stockpile of fuel somewhere.

I think it probably won’t be until all or at least most of the power is restored.

I don’t really understand the reason for a city-wide curfew, considering almost the entire West side has power. I read some dumbshit posts on a news forum calling the curfew “martial law”. Not quite, but it is disconcerting to know i am not allowed to stay out late if I choose to.

Is there anything you need that folks in the dry zone can send you?

Um. . .nothing really comes to mind for me. Maybe someone else can answer? You’re thoughts are admirable, thank you. I have it better than alot of folks, though–My grocery store was open yesterday and they actually had fresh meat and some produce.

They were running on generators still, which is funny since most of the homes in the area had electricity restored a couple of days ago.

So, I know alot of people were running out of food and stuff–the thing is, I overate in a bad way during the nine days the power was out.

Following the mammoth meat fest on Sunday and Monday (We had to cook the meat to keep it from going bad), I pretty much gorged on pop tarts, deviled ham, ginger snaps, etc. (food I don’t usually have at my house), and when that was done, I moved on to whatever packaged foods I could still find on the shelf at stop-n-shop.

All told, I gained about 12 lbs. This was mostly due to boredom. Anyone else experience this? What? Im the only one? Damn.

That is very generous. My bet is any person who may truly need assistance is unable to get online right now.

The best way to help would probably be donating canned goods/non-perishable items to Ike relief groups. They would be able to best assess how to allocate your generosity.
