Ignorant People Have Said...

As I have spent the last 15 years in different gyms, there have always been a plethora of ignorant people Below is a short list of annoying utterances. Please feel free to add.

If I have one more person tell me:

  • about the benfits and difficulty of the P90X system
  • how they would like to lose weight but they just couldn’t imagine cutting carbs
  • that they can’t squat because it hurts their knees and/or hips
  • about an exercise program they read about in Men’s Fitness
  • that they don’t want to get “too bulky”, while they currently weigh 160
  • that the reason they walk in the gym and put 225 on the bar, only to barely bench it twice, is b/c they don’t want to become fatigued warming-up
  • Rack Pulls are too hard on the lower back, as they do pulldowns with 40lbs.
  • “Don’t drop the dumbells” after my 12th rep with 120’s
  • reasons why they are wearing a weight belt while doing chest and tri’s
  • why machines are better than free weights
  • why they just can’t find the time to work-out
  • how big or fast they were in high school
  • that eating a lot of protien will lead to kidney failure
  • why they need 90 minutes to work biceps
  • every fu*king excuse why they don’t have my dedication
  • how a person who didn’t grow up in the mainland US, studied Marxist principles, had friends who hated the US, was in a church for 20 years where he heard about the evil US and the evil white person, spent most of his time as a Community Organizer after law school, who thinks there are 57 states, thinks wealth should be redistributed, has no experience running anything not even a Dairy Queen, is lost without a teleprompter, and is slowly destroying the value of the dollar, is the perfect choice as President of the Unites States.

Are you wearing a shirt that says ‘please come talk to me’? I’ve gone to commercial gyms off and on for the last fifteen years and have never had a problem with strangers wanting to start unsolicited conversations with me. Hmm, guess I’m just boring or stink.

Priceless…

You forgot to add “President of Harvard Law Review,” “United States Senator,” “Columbia Law graduate,” etc. Didn’t you study Marx at all? Learning about differing viewpoints makes one well-rounded.

Really OP. Put your earbuds in, get a black hoodie, and wear a nametag that says Hello, my name is FUCK OFF AND DIE! Anyone talks to you after that, you pretty much have a license to say what ever you want.

Please show me where i can buy such a hoodie or t-shirt.

What do you expect? This all these people know, or for that matter, want to know. People who are truly serious about their training usually seek out more and more information just as I am sure most people were led to this site in an effort to learn more about weight lifting/nutrition/what have you.

Also, just my humble opinion, but if people’s political views are somehow interfering or hampering your lifting, well than I think you need to focus less on joe-sixpack and more on yourself.

There are just as many ignorant fucks voting republican as there are voting democrat.

Just thought I would point that out.

(while doing pullups with 60# around my waist) - “What, you’re body isn’t heavy enough? I just do more pullups, it’s the same thing.”

I got fired from Baskin Robins when I was 16 for a similar nametag. I didn’t even need the hoody.

Everyone has different points of view.

Oh, Republicans and Democrats both are horrible, it’s just that GWB f’ed this country so bad that the next president couldn’t be a Republican.

And the dollar was weakening far before Obama came into office.

Who did you vote for?
