I think war is bad only because of the suffering of the people in it and the grief of their loved ones.
But in principle… in concept I think war is natural. No more “bad” than weeds competing for space or rats eating their young. War is a natural normal part of existence like plague or famine. It’s this horribly destructive thing that happens. It has always happened and always will happen, and as distasteful as it may be sometimes there’s not too much we can do about it.
Nothing will stop war and violence unless there is no one left to fight. Think of some of the oldest mummies found, dating back 5,000+ years ago and they tell the tale. Take Otzi the Iceman for example. He had four types of human blood on his weapons and clothing.
He killed two people with the same arrow and retrieved it both times. He died from an arrow to the shoulder and head trauma. Take a look at the bog mummies too…sacrificially killed or just simply murdered with their skull smashed in and throat slit.
