If the Middle East Was Christian

Also, the soberest, the nations with a great degree of prohibition are also the most violent.

The Papacy would hold the world hostage, as the religion would have the world by the short hairs re: energy.

And we’d have a lot more history about the Tigris / Euphrates river Mesopotamia Valley cradle of life and law (Hammurabi code) and how we owe history indefinite servitude for their glory.

I believe it would be a far worse world.
That is what I call a thinly veiled hatred for Catholicism…

Your wrong…Christians don’t hate Jews.

Um, no. India is not that stable. It has an insurgency in the north-east, a huge insurgency in the north-west (Kashmir), huge wealth disparities, and semi-frequent communal violence. Its status as the world’s largest democracy is an incredible accomplishment, but it is certainly not due to diversity.

Ethnically homogeneous states are far more likely to be stable. Exhibit A: Japan. Much of Europe also fits this bill.

Not condemning diversity at all, America has (largely) made it work. But let’s be honest about the pluses (great restaurant choices) and minuses (ethnic and racial strife).

Correlation is not causation.

I asked if you thought it was interesting, not whether one caused the other

Well, that assumes that turbulent areas are not diverse. I am not sure, but I don’t think that is true. It may not look diverse to us, because we have, for whatever reasons, lumped everybody into one category.

Probably as we get to know a country better, we become more aware of its diversity. For example, my guess is that before the Iraq occupation, most Americans just thought of Muslims as one broad group but now, even some of the least informed americans know that there are Sunni and Shia.

When two peoples with different spiritual and earthly ideals cohabitate: that’s really when things get messy.
As soon as an opportunity arises, the true believers will divide themselves into opposing encampments over whatever bizarre and insignificant reasons they can imagine. The early history of Christianity is case in point. Far more Christians were butchered for their religious beliefs during the second 300 years of the religion than the first 300 and it was by other Christians.

The debates were over issues esoteric and essentially unknowable and the resultant destruction and persecution ultimately played a major role in the success of early islam. As far as a general principle goes, it’s no accident that in the major religions heresy is considered a far greater crime than simple non belief.

Not necessarily. India does not match your theory. If there is relative prosperity there will be peace between all peoples.

You have got to be kidding. India and Pakistan are facing off with nuclear weapons ready to annihilate each other.

I think this thread is retarded.

Christians in the Phillipines are more fanatical than Muslims in Azerbaijan.

There whole ordeal doesn’t have much to do with religion.

More about how cultures take in their religion.

Yeah, what are you the thread police? Threads have to meet your approval? Don’t like it, don’t read it or post to it…

BUT I’M SERIOUS GUYS!!! WHAT IF A HIPPO WAS ACTUALLY A PIG, AND A PIG WAS ACTUALLY A HIPPO???

Would we eat hippo sandwiches and go on safaris for pigs?

Would pigs be at the Zoo? And would hippos be befriending spiders in stories?

Would jews and muslims not eat hippo instead of pig?

???

Alright.

I will add something to this, since I have been such a horrendous douche.

If the Middle East WERE Christian.

WERE

Okay, the Middle East Was Christian, and still is.

The Byzantine Empire, was a Christian state and wielded great influence in the region.

During that time, the Christian were a bunch of uncivilized non-bathing war like psychos and the Middle East was, a developed advanced civilization.

As time went on the Muslim Middle East, and it’s empire over took Byzantium, and Spain.

Spain was significantly aided by the influx of Muslim educated society, and pulled this post-roman society, out of it’s dark ages, effectively infusing it with the power to become a world power for several hundred years (after they had sloughed imperial muslim rule), light years ahead of the barbarous christian retards of the continent.

As time went on, the tables have turned, and maybe in the future, they will turn again.

If that answers you’re question, that is my opinion on the thing.

I don’t think Islam is somehow a caustic force in the world and a devolver of educated men.

I think that dog had its day, and now we’re having ours, and the tables were turn.

Interestingly during this period, Christian retard terrorist Crusaders, went on their holy war agaisnt the Muslim East, because they “hated their freedom.” And ended up at one point, sacking a destroying, the last great Christian empire in the region, out of jealousy and retardation. The sacking of Constantinople.

We Westerners were dirty hater retards too, back when we used to wipe our ass with our hands.

Wait, you mean we’re not doing this anymore?

Yep. Ugly episode that turned out to be. What, may I ask was happening beforehand?
