Idaho Woman Attacked by Wolf

It’s legal in NM to take in wolves as pets. There is this shop in town that is pretty much a “man store” — guns, old guns, holsters, riding equipment, and furniture of the made-of-horns and dead-things variety.

Anyway, the owner had half-wolf (shepherd mix) puppies for sale and this couple of yuppies (plad shorts, pink shirt on the guy) bought a puppy for $700 or whatever it was.

I was talking to the owner, and basically said he got those people eaten unless they train the shit out of that wolf from a VERY early age. He agreed, but really didn’t care.

I can’t stand people like that.
When I was a kid another kid in the neighborhood had a wolf/shepherd hybrid for a short time. It was the scariest dog I’ve ever crossed paths with. It was freaking huge and aggressive as fuck. The dog basically watched everyone like a hawk and if anyone made the slightest movement toward Joey he would be going ape shit trying to get at them. Joey would just say “if he breaks that chain you’re dead”.

I’m sure someone reported that dog, in California its illegal to have a wolf hybrid. I honestly think a pure wolf would be a lot safer than that dog.

My neighbor here in Washington has a wolf hybrid with a completely different temperament. This dog is not as obvious as the other one. He’s just slightly bigger than a German Shepherd and looks less wolf like. It took me a year or so to start seeing the wolf qualities but after looking for them they are clearly there. I knew for sure when I finally heard him howl. I’ve never heard him bark.

He’s a very cool dog. When he was younger he would hop the full sized fence, go for a stroll around the neighborhood then come home and jump back into his yard. Now the family opens the gate to let him make his rounds. I have no problem with my 3 year old daughter going up to this dog by herself to pet him. I can’t say he’s exactly friendly though, he’s kind of indifferent to her. I f I could read his mind it would probably go something like this “whatever small human, you can pet me if you want I don’t really care one way or another. If the slightest whim comes over me I’m leaving”.

Oh yeah, anther thing about this dog, he lives with two yap dogs and the male yap dog tries to be alpha dog. The wolf dog basically lets him except at dinner time when he picks the little dog up, moves him to the side and then eats his food. Its kind of like he is with my daughter. There’s basically no emotion, he’s just doing his thing and that’s that.

I want to kick Joey’s ass.

I wanted a wolf dog. I didn’t do it for a few reasons:

 1. I want a wolf, not a wolf dog. Its a hybrid bastardization that attempts to reduce the “wild” of the wolf by throwing in the domestication of a “normal” dog. Its also to get around laws. What you get is an unpredictable animal. The wild side is only tempered slightly by the domestication, so you get an animal capable of going wild at any time and without warning - this is worse than having a true “wild” animal. At least then you know what to expect.

 2. A wolf dog isn’t a wolf in appearance. It has some of the characteristics, but the dog shows through and ruins its looks. Has the eyes, not the ears and snout. Has the paws but the legs of a dog. Its f’d. Its like breeding a genetic elite to your derp down the street, you just fucked thousands of years of “elite” by implementing “normal.”

 3. The animal in and of itself requires a very strict living situation. They won’t do in any type of populated area. They are secluded by nature, stick to the pack, and are aggressive against outsiders. Great guard dog, or maybe good to your “pack” but be damned if you try to have guests over. Socializing only does so much.

 4. The animals belong in the wild. That is what they are, that is what makes them beautiful. They may have pack tendencies, but that tendency is to hunt and survive at all costs, that doesn’t work in a domesticated “fast food” world.

I’ll admit, I’ve wanted a wolf ever since I saw White Fang as a kid. I’d still take one if I could handle it and lived in the boonies. I’d take a wild wolf pup in a heartbeat, but not with a 135lb girlfriend. The wolf is bigger than her (look at the picture). They take down caribou, they’ll easily take down a person or “fluffy.”

Also, canines under a certain size aren’t dogs, they are glorified rodents. If you can fit it in your purse, its no where near dog status. I’d feed it to my snake if I was short on rats/mice.

Just read this. I like when the cop says, they think they got the croc responsibile…

What that SHOULD have said, was that Mr. Cole was responsible for the outcome. The croc just did what they do best, pick out the easiest food source, and go for it. Grab it, drag it to the bottom, and let it drown, then proceed to eat it. I like how an animal gets punished for someone else being on the short end of the gene pool.

Darwin award right there.

LOL @ it being in Darwin Australia.

Push is a therianthrope? Not surprised.

I fought a wolf once, wasn’t so tough without his pack

Ya, it pisses me off every time an animal is put down for doing exactly what it’s designed to do.

A dog under 30 pounds isn’t real?
Are we talking the dog in the fight or the fight in the dog?

A bit dated but I’m surprised nobody made a movie about this one: Super Pack of 400 Wolves Terrorized Remote Russian Town | Field & Stream

Attack of the ham’s!

I’ve got a wolf/shepherd mix that was kind of forced on me. Neighbor moved away and left Pearl chained up in her yard. I didn’t have the heart to put her down so I took her in. She acts mostly like a German shepherd except when I get broiler chicks, I usually have to watch her closely to make sure she doesn’t eat any. But after they weigh 2-3 lbs she guards the hell out of them, kind of odd.

I, however, would not wish to tango with a wild wolf at all. CO hasn’t officially acknowledged they exist here so you can’t do much about them, but I’ve heard plenty of them.

only in russia

So is it safe to say that even in Mother Russia the wolves are Communist too? After all, they are all working together for equal share, none greater than another. There is no alpha pack, just on giant body working to achieve a goal.

My friends use to have a wolf hybrid that was similar to this. To me he acted more like a cat than a dog. Very aloof. He was a beautiful dog too. Pretty cuddly at times, although only when it suited him. When he trotted he was so graceful and his fur had such a neat rhythmic bounce. I loved that dog.

But: was the real reason for killing the croc because he ate Mr. Cole? Or was it rather that having gotten a taste of humanity, that particular croc became a greater risk to attack other people, as compared to the average croc?

Are wolf attacks really an issue? How many are dead from wolf attacks in the last 10 years in North America?
