wow i only slept for 4 hours last night and my body feels like hell today. this sucks ass. thank god i am not working out today.
here is a vid from my top 2 deadlift pulls on tuesday. my training partners always film these from the front. i wish i could have gotten one of them from the side. i may have them do that next tuesday night.
i hope i am seeing this correct in that once i tighten up for the pull it does appear that i come up in unison and not hips up then chest up like the last video i posted.

still felt kinda weak from being sick for so long last week.
last night i worked on my openers for my first powerlifting meet this saturday with a few other of my training partners.
my squats felt great. went below parallel on all reps. im going with 275 for my opener. 300 is my gym max. hoping to just max that as squats have not been a focus this cycle.
bench started great. worked up to my opener of 185 and felt smooth and not too hard. tried heavier and then a discussion of weak points began. my shoulders are likely going to be a focus the next cycle. i’ve hit 205 a few weeks ago so id’ be happy with matching that.
went up to 345 on deads and they flew off the floor with better form then i have ever had. at least that is how one guy put it. yay! so im going with 365 as my opener. while im warming up if i feel better i may go 385. one of my training partners is going to be there so we will discuss before i lift. i am hoping to beat my 425 gym lift.
Sorry - your first PL meet? Damn, I’m so out of it! Good luck!
It’s interesting that your partners had you testing your max just before the meet. I did a complete deload the week before my meet. Just worked the weights real light, about 50% max, doing singles, nailing down technique.
Your numbers sound good. Of course, we’ll need vids of the whole thing.

oh i just worked up to openers on squats and deads. the bench was my own stupidity on going too heavy. with this being my first meet i just want to get something on the books. im not too worried about my results. i’ll save all the tapering, making weight, etc, etc, for a meet about a year from now or so.

i’ll do what i can for vids.
Of course it’s your first meet!! My brain is absolutely fried. All this unemployment makes me feel like I’m in solitary confinement or something.
Rest up . . . eat . . . make sure form is perfect . . . eat . . . get lots of sleep. Good luck!
had my first powerlifting meet today. got 309 squat. PR by 9lbs. 203 on the bench. and 429 on the deadlift, PR by 4lbs.
i had a friend take vids of all my lifts. i need to edit them all into 1 vid then i’ll post.
squat, 3rd attempt, 140Kg
ill get the others up later once i rotate them and merge them into 1 vid.
ok i give up trying to get these rotated. so here is my bench., 3rd attempt 92.5Kg. red light due to my ass coming off the bench. oops.
and 3rd deadlift attempt. 195Kg.
now on to my next 3 month program. i have an idea and i am curious to what you guys think. im keeping the tues, thurs, fri, sunday split as it works well with the guys i train with.
tuesday - ME squat(thinking of using 5/3/1), DE deads , with posterior and ab work, high volume day. this is the consistent day i work out with other guys. they are good at pushing me hard and stopping me when i dont need anymore.
thursday - bench, similar to coan deadlift program for the worksets, as in working up to heavy set of 2 then speed sets of 3 reps. plus some overhead & accessory/GPP work
friday - DE squat, squat accessory work
sunday - week 1 at home, ME overhead day: week 2 with training partners, event training day. i have my daughter every other sunday so the weeks i have her i train myself in the evening. when i dont have her its event day.
this isnt too different than what i have been doing. it adds more overhead work as it is a goal i want to improve my overhead press. and i am squatting more as i want to improve that as well.
