I hated high school because of everyone thinking it was going to be the best part of their life. I could not wait until I could get out and have the real experiences. I’m still waiting for most of life’s experiences, which is a lot more than in High School. However, after College all bets are off, but I do not think that high school was great.

No idea if this will embed, since it’s not youtube, but still (barely) relevant to the discussion.

Yep, I never understod and always thought it was a little depressing (even when I was in high school) when my classmates/friends would say “Come on dude, let’s (insert obligatory high school shenanigans here)!!! This is the supposed to be the best time of out lives! WOOOOOOOO”
It’s like really? You think so? Cause to me, being able to afford to go on bad ass vacations and make your own decisions and make your own money and not have to live under the tyrannical rule of the parents always was WAAAAAAAY more appealing to me than (insert obligatroy high school shenanigans here). I was always involved in sports and school activities and that helped me out in my air force career and is helping me out a lot now too.
All in all, life is a heluva lot better 10 years AFTER high school than it ever was IN high school. WAAAAAAY better
hated high school, still have nightmares that i’m back there now occasionally, and it’s been nearly 25 years. don’t let anybody tell you what is the best time of your life. for me it’s right now, mortgage paid, no loans, stress free job (albeit not very secure right now)a beautiful woman for 16 years at my side, and doing exactly what i would choose to do most of my time. wouldn’t change it for any other.
i hated highschool. the only reason i went was so i could play basketball.
when i was in grade 12, the office gave me two math classes, instead of outdoor ed. so while all my friends were white water rafting i was DOING MATH.
and after a fun filled day of math, i went straight to work at kfc.
highschool was the worst.
My graduation year my friends and I had a VERY good friend of ours pass away. Not here to ruin the thread or anything lol.
I don’t miss high school. To much drama I think personally. In college everyone is more mature about things etc. There’s not as much he said she said bullshit. It’s still there amongst the girls because they like to gossip, no offense just not as much.
I hated high school. Simple as that. I was not an average kid. I was tested in rehab at 15 to be at a college level. Since rehab was in the US, my college credits counted for shit. That held me back a year. Then also kicking a bad drug habit and all the stupid shit of a small town high school. Made me hate it even more. I never really fit in.
So someone said turn lemons to lemonaide. I started running my own side business not the legal kind. And that started taking over. Once you start making serious money you don’t want to have some idiot asking about homework and late slips and treating you like a child, when you are paying rent at 18yrs. Then one day I seen all the people around me start getting arrested and going to jail. So I decided to stop and go to college. And I did as a mature student.
College was/is the shit!!
Ohhh boy, how i miss high school, you get to do NOTHING all day long and just laugh and have fun with your friends. I mean i could do that now, but it just isn’t the same vibe.
Ohh how i miss that wonderful 2005, i still can’t believe it’s been 5 years since i’ve graduated from high school
College > High School
However, pussy did smell better in high school.

Dude, all your posts are fucking gold man. I crack up at every one of your comments.
To be honest I look back at high school(or our equivalent) with fondness. I made friends there that will be friends for life. They’re more like family actually.
We had some category/social divisions in the first few years of it but in my final three years there was none of that. Everybody just got on really well.
Also, I turned 18 before my last year of highschool so that final year was incredible. Party’s every weekend and no problem getting booze for myself and friends.
I find college to be very over-rated and full of pretentious prats.
But then again I wasn’t so fond of it while I was there(not that I hated it either). My buddy pointed out that we only remember the good times and not the times when we had to go back on a sunny friday for a double math.

You ever wish you could go back?

I always and still do fantasise about being a jock in an american high school. We have the two tier jock/gimp stereotype here in Ireland but doesn’t seem to be as epic as in the States. Can anyone draw from experience??[/quote]
When I was in HS, All the jocks partied together and smoked a lot of weed and drank a lot of alcohol. Really the antithesis of your “good ol boy” white collar mom n pop jock kid.
Oh, and now that high school is over, I have come to two very important conclusions:
-
Everyone is fat.
-
It’s very funny.
-Sar
if you like high school then there is still prison. except convicts get more legal representation
High school sucked balls. Absolutely the worst time of my life.
College was pretty good.
Military life is so much better than either.
It’s all about when you come into your niche.
highschool was nice cuz there was nothin to do but train and goof off.
college was much better for aforementioned slutty girls, partying, and at some points… learning something.
what i miss now being in the real world, is college, not highschool. Grad school anyone?
I worked all through high school so I hated it. I was so tired all of the time. Plus, I grew up in a small town with a bunch of hillbillies so I couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there. Most of my classmates dreams were of getting a job at a local factory and pumping out a couple of kids. High school was just sad and depressing for me, I was glad when it was over and I’ve never missed it.
How is highschool suppose to be the best time of your life when you can’t legally drink, live under your parents roof, have to be home by midnight(i’m sure that wasn’t the case for everybody), still going through puberty(yeah i was a late bloomer), wasn’t even able to drive until almost halfway through. I can keep going but i’m sure you get the point.
The only thing i miss about highschool was the few close friends that i had, but they all got married and moved away.
