Nice story of your test prep.

Pick someplace to go to school where the food is good and plentiful the weather wonderful and the girls like to be girls.
Well, that puts Yale out of the picture.

But New Haven is the pizza capital of the Universe. And the beer at the Anchor Bar is pretty cheap, and drinkable, as long as it’s real cold.

Hey, if you come for an interview, PM me. I’ll give you a tour of Yale that your parents won’t approve of.

I got a perfect on a section of my GRE’s and felt great…can’t imagine what it feels like to do that on an entire standardized test…congrats!

anyone else feeling old? I took my sat’s about a decade ago and they were only 1600 points

Don’t feel old. They were only 1600 points just a couple of years ago.

Quit your crying. The only two kids I knew who went to stanford were white nonvarsity athletes, so it wasnt that. In fact, theres no way I would’ve wanted to go to a school where all the kids looked, acted and thought like every kid from my upper middle class white suburb. upper-middle and white definitely described my best friends in school, but that wasnt a conscious decision, and I’m glad that there was some kind of variety.
who’s crying? there was no crying, all i was saying was that if you’re not white, you have a better chance to get in. where am i wrong?

all i’m saying is that that guy didn’t get in, but a girl in the same grade from the same school who was like 1/16th native american with far less credentials to get into stanford was admitted. like it or not, it’s true.

You bastard, your prep story makes me really regret not prepping.

I scored a 28 on the ACT and got in the high 1200s on the SAT (w/o writing) and did absolutely zero prep work. I think if I’d put in the effort (and yes mom and dad told me too…) I could have done MUCH better.

Maybe not…hindsight is 20/20

But, I’ve only moved out of my house 6 months ago and I already regret not listening to my parents on alot of stuff…like SAT prep.

Listen to your parents kid, you’ll be glad you did. And seek guidance from your school counselors and other influential people…you have alotta big decisions to make in the next few months but if you do enough research and make the right ones…you’ll be setting yourself up for an awesome future.
i agree 100% GS. i got a 27 on the ACT and a 1340 on the SAT without doing shit. my GPA was a 2.7 and no D-1 college takes risks on 5’8 outfielders, so i went to play baseball at junior college. who knows what i could have done if my grades were higher, or if i tried.

again man, congrats. stanford would be a great choice. if you’re looking to come out to california, cal ucla and usc are great institutions to consider as well.

I don’t think the OP’s a liar or anything, but does anyone else think it’s a little amusing when someone posts about their perfect SAT score, and 3 pages worth of posters take their word for it, but you can’t claim a 500 DL on these forums without submitting a half dozen videos, eyewitness accounts and a certificate of authenticity?

That said, congrats. You make me wish I gave a shit in high school. I took my SAT drunk from the night before.

Nice E-SATs.

Just kidding, good job.

I personally don’t pay that much attention to the weights quoted by most people unless it is some huge number being stated by some guy who just started lifting and who looks like they’ve never touched a weight. If the OP had a history of making barely literate posts or who had the apparent intellect of a 7 year old, I am sure more people would take him to task on it.

In fact, there are now quite a number of people I would disbelieve if they made this statement on this forum.

That’s a beautiful thing, dude. good work. I also took my SAT cold and although I scored well, I too regret not prepping after that inspiring story. (This was also in the “old days” when it was out of 1600… except I took it in '05! haha)

I am a Professor, so I have a lot of experience being a student. My only advice would be to go to the school that puts you in the least debt. The difference between the top 30 schools isnt that drastic, so pick 10 you like and see what they will offer you.

Just a side note, a place like Cal Tech is great, but the girls are a mess.
It is the contacts you make at a top school not the curriculum that helps you through life.

Congrats! Well done. FWIW, my brother got a 1600 on the SATS (obviously the old ones) and went to Stanford for biological sciences. Enjoyed it, keeps in contact with his favorite professors, and now just started at M.I.T. for graduate school in bioengineering so keep up the good work and sweet things will come of it. And also, it was great for the family cuz we got to visit him every year which made for a great Cali vacation! Keep at it.

any updates with a decision

You all my find this link to be of significant interest, given the nature and time of the post:

I haven’t yet decided where I’ll go to college. I applied to pretty much every school I would ever so want to go to so I figure there is no real point in making up my mind now.

Great job!

I remember reading when I was taking the SAT, that there were about 20 perfect scores a year. Don’t underestimate the influence of that score. Good choice applying to everywhere you may want to go. Being a well rounded student is a way to sort out the rest of them
