I thought this was about a 2400 total also hahaha

Good job

Thanks for all the replies! My first choice at this point is probably Stanford, I don’t know for sure though because I am from New York and haven’t even visited Cali yet. I’m still not a shoe-in at any rate, I’m sure Stanford turns down people with perfect scores. I don’t know what I want to study, I love a few subjects in school (English, physics, a few social sciences) and it will be hard for me to narrow it down. I still almost feel like I’m lying when I say it because it seems unreal to me. I think I’ve spent half-an-hour today just staring at my scores.

You can’t go wrong with Stanford, but you’re right – they’ll turn down some perfect scores. They like to see what you’ve done that makes you unique – above and beyond being crazy-ass-smart. Community involvement, student politics, travel experiences, enrepreneurial experience, languages, sports, etc.

SATs have changed since I took them, 1600 used to be the top score. So 2400 is the highest possible?[/quote]

I’m glad I’m not the only one wondering how the hell someone got a 2400. I forgot they changed the test that much. I’m not even sure how that stands now. Is 2400 the highest possible score?

Either way, congrats.

CONgrats

Yup, 2400 is a “Perfect” score, in that it’s the highest possible socre - you can miss a certain number of questions (depending on how many people take the test at that administration) and still get a 2400. 800M, 800V, 800E.

Congrats to the original poster! You can’t go wrong with Stanford.

no, stanford just turns down white non-varsity athletes. my friend had a 5.0 GPA in high school (took every single AP class there was), played three varsity sports and was in two clubs. he got turned down. goes to cornell now.

if you’re not white, you’re a shoo-in. if you are, there’s still a very good chance you’ll get in. best of luck and congrats, it would be a great choice.

So you were the fucker copying me eh?

J/K, nice job. I never even took the SAT(or ACT). Something about going to school on the weekend seemed very wrong to me.

If you are having trouble I need someone to mow my lawn. I can pay you 10 Bucks per mow. I also have a heated doghouse you could crash in.

Really though, once you get out of college if you need someone to mow your lawn, look me up.

Stanford is a great choice. It was good enough for Tiger Woods, who is possibly the second best human being to ever be born, behind Jesus, assuming Jesus was real, if not Tiger takes the #1 human ever title. So yea, it should be an Okay school.

Also, please tell us your preparation, I am sure there are a bunch of kids reading this wondering if there was any special study routines you did prior to. I mean you have to be one damn smart kid anyways, but a lot of people who get the perfect score have done some special studying for the purpose of taking the test.

Fuck you dude.

Great Job!

Nice one lad.

I’ve seen enough american movies to know what SAT is - a form of tertiary entrance test I believe.

Just wondering how its possible to get a perfect score if you do answer questions wrong!?? Doesn’t that defy the definition of perfect?

And why such an arbitrary scale? What is wrong with percentages.

When you are testing knowledge across a wide spectrum of different cultures, learning techniques and even access (considering in the past poorer school districts were even known to use out of date books), it helps to grade on a relative curve so to speak.

The scores are bell-curved. If enough people didn’t miss a point, then 2400 would really be a perfect score - but if all the highest scorers missed a few, then it wouldn’t. Generally, from what I understand, with the re-centering of the curve they did in the late 90s “perfect” became a score in which you could miss a few. I don’t think they re-centered when they introduced the essay, but I could be wrong.

ADDENDUM:

As to why: So they can play with it and bend to political pressure without it being to obvious. The previous re-centering was done in response to teachers’ unions, who didn’t like it that scores had fallen over time.

ADDENDUM 2:

So, could you boost your score by taking the test in an under-privileged area?

Post pictures.

Kidding. Kind of.

Congratulations. The Ivy league schools need more T-men.

Congratulations. As you no doubt know, you cant get a full scholarship “anywhere” despite what many are telling you. Upper tier schools often provide no merit scholarships, only needs-based. Regardless, you had a great day and I’m sure you deserve it. It certainly wont hurt!

Quit your crying. The only two kids I knew who went to stanford were white nonvarsity athletes, so it wasnt that. In fact, theres no way I would’ve wanted to go to a school where all the kids looked, acted and thought like every kid from my upper middle class white suburb. upper-middle and white definitely described my best friends in school, but that wasnt a conscious decision, and I’m glad that there was some kind of variety.

yeah you got a 2400 but what about the wheels

(jokes aside) how many times have you taken it up until now

Agreed. Worthless without pics. Don’t make claims you can’t back up.
