This is all new to me. I am 30 years, 5"10, and currently around 230lb. A few years ago I weighed 275, then I started working out and got down to 210. I have been consistently been working out since January 2015 (had no clue what I was doing when I started) and following 531 since april 2016. Loosing weight has been difficult but doable.
In the last 6 months I have been gaining weight and have had no energy at all. I got blood work done at a clinic last week. everything looked normal except my total test was 250. I feel like this is low. I am following up with a Dr. on Friday and want to address this but I feel like most Drs. are not willing to address low T. Is there anything I should address specifically? Is 250 low enough to worry about?
I just want to feel normal again and get my weight back down to around 200 lb.
Evaluate your overall thyroid function by checking oral body temperatures as per the thyroid basics sticky. Thyroid hormone fT3 is what gets the job done and it regulates mitochondrial activity, the source of ATP which is the universal currency of cellular energy. This is part of the body’s temperature control loop. This can get messed up if you are iodine deficient. In many countries, you need to be using iodized salt. Other countries add iodine to dairy or bread.
