ALSO my cubicle has a window… sweet deal indeed
I have a window but it is just a parking lot. If I really had a choice in life I would have been a football scout. But being a father when I was 17 ment I had to grow up quick and work.

Exactly and the more you make the more you spend and the deeper you get in debt. Personally I picked a profession that I can just go down the street and get hired. So I appreciate jobs that do not ass rape me daily. [/quote]
I’m assuming you didn’t obtain a degree in economics…this has got the be the worst damn logic I’ve ever heard
What would be your explanation for people who go to school on scholarships? Inheritance? GI Bill? Mommy and Daddy?
Your income does not directly translate into how much you spend. Shit, plenty of people who make jack-shit spend WAAAAAY more than they should, and plenty of people who make boat loads rarely use credit/are barely in debt.
You spend what you spend, and the price of everything is what you pay for it…
Jesus I wish more people would pay attention during their intro to econ class…

No polo I do not have a degree in economics. I have been poor and I have been upper middle class. I am not in debt and was speaking in generalizations. I do know that when I was going from being poor to being middle class I got in the trap of the more you make the more you spend and the more you get in debt. But alas I am not a dumbass and figured that out.
i can’t get too far into debt. since i dont have a credit card. …yet

Too many people fall into that trap. They are under the impression that credit = free money when credit = costly money. People are too worried about what they can buy with their money when they should be looking into what they can invest their money into…
I’m sorry you thought I was insinuating you were a dumbass; but you have to understand the dumbass:common sense ratio bet was in my favor ![]()

I would have done the same thing. I tell this kind of stuff to my 19 year old so maybe he will not fall into the same trap. Logic doesnt compute with that age group. I agree the dumbass:common sense ratio in the country is not a bell curve.

Treat it like a debit card, never spend more than what you have in the bank and pay off your balance COMPLETELY every month. Then you will never be in debt…well from credit cards atleast.
Uggh. Another complaining about my job thread?
I lost mine a couple of weeks ago. I had the suspicion that things were getting tight, but no idea that they were about to shut down. Then again, you can only clean the shop so many times before the light bulb comes on and you realize that there is not enough work flowing through to support the crew that is there to do it.
I put in for vacation a couple of weeks prior, and when I got back, there was a message to call the owner and it was very important. So I gave him a ring, and with his voice cracking, he had a difficult time telling me that the shop shut down after the last pay day. He kept us on as long as he possibly could without jeopardizing the existence of the company.
It was a great job, in my opinion. Didn’t pay a whole lot, but had a good benefits package. The part I loved was creating a product that brought joy and inspiration to people, and added beauty and elegance to the buildings that use them.
In a way I feel kind of fortunate though. I recently bought a house. Being good with numbers I was able to calculate a conservative and manageable range of payment, and bought accordingly. We also managed to save a few K in case something like this happened. The layoff should only be a couple of months, and between unemployment comp and some fall back skills like tree cutting, I shouldn’t lose much, like my house.
But I digress. These “hate my job” threads make the person who starts them sound like just such a cunt. It gives the appearance of having very little testicular fortitude, and ever less ability. If you hate your job, go do something else. Especially if the only reason you have it is because you want some extra dough when you go back to school.
Don’t whine yourself into thinking that you have it tough, or when life actually does get difficult and the stakes are actually high, you will be truly fucked. Do something that required the development of some balls and some skill. You might actually need them some day.
Until then, quit your fucking whining.

The next year I manually unloaded concrete blocks outdoors off a conveyor belt in the hottest summer experienced in north Florida in decades, also for $2.30 hr. Although I hated the super repetitive chore of doing nothing all day but tugging on blocks and putting them on pallets I loved having a job and making money.

Basically been my job since after 7th grade. That and other gopher-like jobs for the same construction company. This summer (just finished 1st year in college) I am interning which is really nice. But without that construction job throughout high school my social life would have been non-existent. OP, just get your shit done, youll look back and be grateful for a job in some years.
Look at this as further motivation to do well in school so you don’t have to work shit jobs for the rest of your life.
Well, you will probably still have a shit job, but at least you’ll make more than $8 an hour.

^This
" I had to get up in the morning at ten o’clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah"
But try to tell the kids of today that.
^^ Ahhh, I remember those days.
It’s been said too many times.
Hate your fucking job = get a new fucking job. NOBODY has started off with their dream job. Go find it.
And if your damn hamstrings are tight, stretch them fir-fuck-sakes.
