I Gots to Know

Thongs… Commando…

You Gemini’s are so awesome…

That sign is my affliction. always has been…

My little sagitarious I’m dating now is fun, but just doesn’t match up to the kind of “fun” I’ve been able to have with Gemini’s…

CMC-Your rising sign is determined by the time of your birth, as are your moon sign and planetary aspects. It can be pretty illuminating once you have a complete chart done. Not that I am one of those people who has to read their horoscope before they will leave the house, mond you. But I think a good analysis can sometimes give you a better self awareness, which in turn can help you affect positive changes in your life.
There is a series of books published by “Berkley” called AstroAnalysis, there is one for each sign, nad they are extremely user friendly. It makes it really easy to determine your rising sign, moon, and planet placements with relatively detailed info as to the significance of each.

So far, I think I’m the only Cancer here. I’m quite typically Cancer, and usually don’t offer any surprises.

God Bles the thong

I only have a second this morning (I know, I know, please keep the sounds of dismay to a minimum) but to answer CMC - You have to know your town, date and time of day of birth. Once you do, go to astro.com and plug in the data under “My Astro”. It will calculate your birth chart, rising sign, moon sign, all the aspects/conjunctions/oppositions, which planets were in which houses and so on. You have several options as far as Daily Horoscopes, Personal Portraits, Love/Flirtation/Sex, Partner reports.

Astrology used to be quite a hobby of mine and I’d interpret people’s charts fairly well…not as far as making predictions but as far as being able to tell them things about themselves they’d not told me before. If you have an interest, all the resources are on the net for you to learn about it.

While the reports on astro.com are pretty straight forward, they deal with generalities. You have to pay to get something more custom tailored to you. Kinda like training programs. If you are looking for a more detailed and accurate analysis, simply knowing what planets were in which houses and what their aspects are to other planets/houses (what the reports tell you) won’t get you too far - you have to interpret the meanings.

Let’s take one planet and look at it’s placement in a chart and see the difference a “full” interpretation makes:

  1. Saturn in retrograde (spinning backward instead of frontward) in the Third House,

  2. Saturn in retrograde in the Third House and also being opposed to Mercury in the Ninth House,

  3. Saturn in retrograde in the Third House, opposed to the Mercury in the Ninth House and ALSO being conjunct with Venus in the First House.

This is the sort of info you can get from the reports - but what does it mean? Since I used these as examples, let me explain the differences.

In case 1: Saturn (Planet of Restrictions/Obligation/Duty) in retrograde usually indicates an absentee father figure. Put this configuration in the Third House (House of Communnication) and you get the idea that perhaps Dad wasn’t physically absent but emotionally absent. That’s nice to know but also very vague and generalized.

In case 2: Retrograded, Third House Saturn being opposed to Mercury (Planet of Communication/Education/Travel) in the Nineth House (House of Philosophy) would indicate all of the above plus that communications were quite strained between the two people and there were/are quite divergent philosophical views. Most likely there was little interaction between the parties and what interaction there was, was in the form of arguments about ideals and what life path should be taken. This is a better, more clear view of the relationship at hand.

In case 3: Retrograded, Third House Saturn being opposed to Mercury in the Nineth House and ALSO conjunct with Venus (Planet of Nurturing/Love/Offspring) in the First House (House of Identity) would further illuminate the situation by showing that however strained relations and communications were/are and however divergent the philosophical ideals of the two parties were/are - there is a very strong love/nurturing/protective bond between them and that a great deal of the subject’s identity comes from this bond. It appears to be a strained relationship fraught with disagreements but held together by love and the parties being more similar (personality wise) than dissimilar regardless of their different philosophical views.

This last scenario gives the clearest picture of how Saturn’s alignment affects the subject. But this is just one of 12 Planets. Imagine how much fuller a reading could be done with examining all of them?

Alrighty! Now that I’ve just laid my relationship with my dad out there for you all… The thing that “hooked” me about astrology was the intense feeling of “Oh My God! This is sooo close to home!” as I researched what all the planets, aspects and houses meant. I thought perhaps it seemed so clear since I was interpreting my own chart and I was projecting meaning onto nothingness. Then I did some friend’s. They confirmed about 90% of what I interpreted. 90% ain’t half bad for an inexperienced person like me…and I learned things about them I had no clue about. Pretty cool deal. After all, I didn’t decide what each planet/aspect/house meant - those definintions have been around for centuries. I didn’t decide where to place the planets/aspects or which houses they’d fall in. All I did was connect the dots.
