I am Thinking of a Word

why dont you go to the history section of you computer and go back to the site?

Does the word contain the root “kine” (as in “kinetic”)?

coach? as in you’re coaching the bowling ball to move to the side a little more.

Ooh. That sounds familiar.

It was several weeks ago… the amount of sites I have visited since would make it extremely difficult, coupled with the fact that I have no idea what day it was.

This is not an every day word… its something very strange.

Ah, so you mean that ‘action’ of moving your body, or arms or head or whatever in the direction you’d like the ball or something to go once you’ve released it (and therefore have no physical connection with it).

Or, in the case of a video game, a GROSS overcorrection of the wheel that defies the physics, yet you unconsciously try to do it anyway?

Is it also kinda like when watching a football game and they kick the ball and you take two hands to somehow ‘push’ the ball between the uprights?

That sort of ‘mental projection-ing’ that can or cannot incorporate your whole body?

yes, but what is the word?

you realize you’re driving me nuts with this too.

Still working on that!

Telepathic transference is all I can come up with right now.

Or maybe it’s just 'telegraphing"

This is exactly what I mean. I am sorry to put you through this as well, haha. I have been racking my brain for several days trying to remember it.

so, my two suggestions above weren’t it?

No, sorry. Again I feel like the ass teacher we all had that asks a broad question then discounts your answer.

It would really help if you could find the site that you went to. then i’d at least be able to scour it in the hopes of finding the word.

Coax?

from Merriam-Webster.com

4: to manipulate with great perseverance and usually with considerable effort toward a desired state or activity <coax a fire to burn

from thefreedictionary.com

  1. To move to or adjust toward a desired end

You know, sometimes when I am stumbling to remember a “really great word I heard recently”, when I do inevitably find it again I am severely underwhelmed by how not great it actually is.

In the time between hearing it, forgetting it and then trying to find it again, my brain can have a tendency to really exaggerate the word and/or splice it with some other good word I may have heard in or around that time.

In fact, it has even occurred before where I have gone looking for the word in question and completely passed over it in a list thinking “no way it could be that puny little word, the word I’m thinking of was at least 4 syllables”

which, by the way, how many syllables was this word?

What?? Still no resolution to this? It’s maddening! Find the word! For the love of God, find the word!
