The article is correct. It’s not just about Sarah Palin, it’s about the political landscape, Left or Right, for the most part, in this country. Marketing precludes substance.
Palin looks like our High School Homecoming Queen, hell, let’s vote for her team. The author made the same point about Obama in the latter part of the article.

Look at how the debates are judged. Sarah Palin didn’t know what the fuck she was talking about…but she SCORED based on the fact that she was cute, “homey” and didn’t look like a deer caught in headlights during the debate, like she did during the Katie Couric interviews. Joe Biden, on the other hand, SCORED because he didn’t go off on tangents, sound long-winded or . GREAT! That’s substantive?

Anti-intellectualism has become a positive trait to be underscored before the American public. McCain came in third from the last in his graduating class. Sarah Palin has barely more than a community college degree. There seems to be no shame for such academic mediocrity. Yet Senator Obama had better avoid mentioning publicly his degrees or or referencing John Rawls, for fear of being branded an elitist. Go figure!

And, why not? We were mediocre in school, we got by with "C"s thanks to our forgiving teachers’ EXTRA CREDIT. If it was good enough for us, it’s good enough for our leaders.

I don’t get it, Mufasa. You keep saying that. You’ve gotta give Palin her due. People LOVE her. She’s energized the base. Social conservatives love her. Those who detest insider politicans and buy into her being a maverick love her. Certainly has 10 times the personality of McCain.

But at the same time, lots of people HATE her. Opinion polls on her qualifications to be president or even VP are dropping all the time. Her record as a fiscally conservative political reformer is dubious at best. Lots of people who’ve done the research, especially progressives, feel BETRAYED. I know 10 people who were undecideds who don’t think they can pull the trigger on McCain since Palin is on the ticket. And I certainly haven’t been taking polls. This is just what people tell me.

I think it’s really hard to know which way Palin cuts. Has she won more people to the McCain side than she’s alienated? Or would everyone that loves Palin, and identifies with her much more than McCain, have grumbingly voted for McCain anyway no matter who he chose?

She really is one of the ugliest women I’ve ever seen. I don’t say it about many people, but Congress really needs to pass some law forbidding her to go out in public. Or tax her for going out in public, the money going a fund to care for the people who see her and go blind. I think it’s a bipartisan initiave everyone could get behind.

In absolute terms, no. Relative to other news sourses, yes. They at least try and present both sides. They actually have the most entertaining Liberals, if you exclude combs. What I like about fox is that there is no pretence. you know when you are listening to a liberal and you know when you are listening to a conservative. the only one i can’t figure out is oreilly.

I mentioned “equal time” to point out that they really have no problem with “primitive beliefs,” because they never mention Islam, and (having studied it quite a bit), it beats Christianity on the “primitive” scale by several 10s of dB. My argument was called “tu-quoque” (google it), except that I used a valid form of it, not the brand lixy always uses.

What they really don’t like is Christianity, except that you don’t hear them bringing up the “Rev. Wright” brand because Obama is a guy they like. In summary, they have hate against one person and nut-hugging for a different person whom they should also hate if IDENTICAL STANDARDS (the ones they themselves admitted they ignored for Obama) were applied. This is called “being irrational.” It’s neurotic.
