I love when Zebster resorts to the “lets lull him with your really a great guy and and we know it’s so frustrating for you” while at the same time using “We’ll very subtly compare him to a teenager who is making internet tough guy remarks” in the hope it makes him question himself and his position.
I like others sometimes get very abrasive, difference is I don’t see you climbing on your pulpit when one of your “like minded buddies” starts ripping loose with the hostile cussing and name calling… Oh, but let Vroom let out one “Ass Clown” and good ol Zeb is putting on the preaching robes!
Seems like you selectively choose to preach Zeb when it fits your agenda.
You guys can be pretty phony at times!
Vroom, ProfX, 100meteres, others have attempted countless times to “debate in courtesy” and start getting the snide, sarcastic, hostile, remarks, when they respond back in kind, you start crying that they are so meansey weansey and offend your poor lil hurt sensibilities.
Try being real for once.
“My preaching robe?” Again, your answer to me attempting to restore a little civility to a thread is to insult me. Do you somehow think by attacking me you are helping the forum? Think again…
If you think that there are others who resort to such a high level of personal attacks you are free to point them out. In fact, I think it would be a good idea if you did. Maybe if more of us started calling each other on some of these personal attacks we could actually have a higher level of debate. And also attract a higher level of participant. How many T-men are interested in politics, but not interested in being personally attacked for a political opinion they hold, so they stay away.
Your sarcasm was not needed I am being very sincere right now and with the above post. You may not want to believe it but I think vroom has a very good mind and does not need to resort to personal attacks…Actually you don’t either.
Sincerely,
Zeb

Civil? What? This is T-Nation isn’t it? Why am I the only person who has to be civil in the political forums? What a crock…
Yea it’s T-Nation and if you are interested in discussing issues and building the political forum it would be a great idea to raise the bar. Your earlier posts actually did that.
I think it’s interesting that most of the time when people disagree on other threads the level of civility is maintained to a higher degree than in the political forum. I have seen you respond with restraint on many occasions…on other threads (other than the political ones).
Why do you change when you come in here?
It’s not about being PC. It’s about being mature! How does anyone gain when you call them name? It’s sort of nutty isn’t it?
Oh… and thanks for the song…
Where did you come from? Don’t they need you back there yet? Isn’t there a wedgie to give some one or a slim shady concert to attend?
You seem like a smart young man, but you have been here a ridiciously short amount of time and you are barging into disagreements that have been going on for centuries (seems like it) throwing around your opinion like you are some kind of authority on the matter.
If you are going to participate at least tone down your all knowing attitude with folks that have been around a little longer then you.
Peace
Zeb, it boils down to a difference in tactics. Many of yours are without harsh words, but they by no means smell of fresh roses. You are a crafty old fox and have used your sarcasm and wit on many an occasion to hit below the belt.
Ah, yes, we all like to say how we would like a pleasant exchange of our opinions, but how many people are truly capable of that?
We will respond to the level you choose to bring it too.

How long someone’s been on this board is irrelevant. This has nothing to do with who knows more than someone else. If you’re going to call people names for no reason other than the fact that they respectfully disagree with your political opinions, then I’m going to call you out on it. I would expect the same from anybody here that wants to engage in actual debate. If your thrills lie in immature name calling, I’m sure there’s plenty of smack boards across the internet for you to join. Take your insecurities there.
Hahahaha. Zeb, thing is, it doesn’t matter what anyone says, you will find insult in it. Your preaching robe was certainly a very benign and slightly colorful way to describe the behavior you are exhibiting.
You are now the embodiment of the PC police. Best not express yourself or Zeb won’t like it… unless you express yourself the way he would prefer.
This is the Internet. For most of us it is a form of entertainment. Sometimes we have different styles and patterns of expressing ourselves. Most of the garbage in the politics forum is just that, redneck close-minded lack of vision garbage. It’s laughable.
If you would stop spending so much getting offended and trying to tell other people how they ought to behave, to your liking of course, and simply discuss issues reasonably, things would be a lot smoother.
What, don’t like being preached to by me? Well, guess what, nobody likes hearing how you think things out to be done around here either. Who made you the forum police? I don’t recognize your authority.
If you try to exercise authority without actually having any… guess what that makes you?

Yes, panther, you are right one who is so above any immature behavior. I guess, I had better say good bye to T-Nation now. :,(
By the way, you know of any good boards where I can get my physique critiqued? Fully clothed of course…

If you are saying that you only respond with name calling when you are called a name, I don’t think that justifies the behavior. However, it is certainly better than initiating the name calling.

No need to bring out your insecurities on me, bro. It doesn’t take Dr. Phil to see that one. But if it makes you feel any better to bring that up every once in a while, be my guest. It’s the least I can do for someone with an inferiority complex.
Here’s a thought.
If you don’t like what Jeff posted, just skip it. If you think his comments are just annoying trollism, ignore it. Move on to the next one.
Instead, we get Vroom carrying on like a jilted drag queen and a litany of personal attacks from several posters.
Only thing Jeff did was offer up a topic for debate. You see a ton of threads started on dubious topics that end with maybe four posts - because people ignore them.
I am not weighing in on the quality of Jeff’s post myself - but if you think it’s crap, grow up and move along.
Also, as for the topic at hand - anyone have an argument that isn’t pure ad hominem?

No actually It does not matter what you say relative to your political ideas, or any other idea for that matter. All I am attempting to point out is that calling someone an “ass clown” (or some other similar remark) is childish and beneath you. And you resort to it quite often.
This is your way of looking down on others. If that’s how you feel it seems that you would have better things to do, but it seems that you don’t. Therefore, denegrating those who you believe are beneath you does what for you?
Incorrect! I am not offended by your childish remarks. Furthermore, the only issue which I have brought to the attention of the forum is your constant personal attacks. Is that telling “people how to behave?”
Here is why I mention it: What I see is a pattern. vroom personally insults someone who disagrees with him. The person retaliates and insults vroom. The political debate spirals downward and then the thread ends in name calling. Yea…that’s about right. It seems that political debate, even on the Internet ought to be more than that especially when adults are involved. No?
What, don’t like being preached to by me? Well, guess what, nobody likes hearing how you think things out to be done around here either. Who made you the forum police? I don’t recognize your authority.

“Nobody likes hearing how things ought to be?” I have only heard two negative voices on the board, you are one of them. As far as authority, I have no more than tyou do, but I have no less either! We can both type out a post and click send, that is the extent of our “power.” I understand that you have the right to denegrate yourself and others with constant personal attacks. And I have the right to call those personal attacks childish and unnecessary.
I further have the right to point out how I think the forum would be better off if there were less personal attacks. For this, I get attacked. In a way it’s funny. In another way it’s sad that adults have to constantly fall back on name calling. It lowers the standard of the forum as I have already pointed out.
Honestly, I would love to see the political section grow. Have you noticed it’s almost the same people here week after week. Don’t get me wrong I think the people who are here (for the most part) are very good at defending their argument. But, it would be nice to have some fresh faces. But who wants to put up with the immaturity?
Those remarks might make you feel better, but they serve no other purpose and bring the level of debate to it’s lowest form.
I don’t think that’s what you want.
Thunder, leave us our amusement… what else are we to do with Jerffy created threads?

Not only an intelligent young man, but a thoughtful one as well. Thanks, from one complex to another!
Vroom,
“Thunder, leave us our amusement… what else are we to do with Jerffy created threads?”
Because there is nothing illegitimate about Jeff’s post that begins this thread. It is a perfectly good topic - maybe one that has beaten to death, but he wanted to bring it up and specifically asked for other people’s thoughts and analysis.
Whereas, your response, however, was to instantly attack him personally. And over 60 posts later, everyone is still talking about each other instead of to each other.
And another thing - the attempts at being clever are painful to read. I’d appreciate if you just recognize your limitations and move on.
Painful to read… Thunder, didn’t you just say if you don’t like something move on pass it up?
Thunder, are you jumping on the bandwagon now? You, too, are perfectly free to either post something on the subject at hand or to move on.
Perhaps if you peruse threads outside of the political forum you will see all kinds of nonsense posts in them also. Perhaps you should go decry all posts everywhere that aren’t on track with the author’s intent.
Yawn.
Elk,
No, just proferring two ideas that go like this:
Try and not talk shit.
If you must talk shit, please be good at it.
Vroom,
“Thunder, are you jumping on the bandwagon now? You, too, are perfectly free to either post something on the subject at hand or to move on.”
Nope, jusy trying to take a stab at making threads around here worth spending time on. Since there were many voices arguing back and forth, I figured it might be a nice place to see if anyone wanted to get back to worthwhile discussion.
“Perhaps if you peruse threads outside of the political forum you will see all kinds of nonsense posts in them also. Perhaps you should go decry all posts everywhere that aren’t on track with the author’s intent.”
Not my job to decry posts that aren’t on track - but it seems like no decent thread can get going past 20 posts before someone starts in the nonsense.
Actually, in this case, you started your blather way before 20 posts.
My point was basic - this used to be a good place to debate the issues.
