Humalog insulin pen for daily injection convenience

For the last few months I’ve been reloading Humalog insulin pens with my HCG and Test C for my daily injections. Humalog pens are a fast acting insulin for insulin dependent diabetics. They are easy to clean, sterilize, and reload with whatever you want. There are plenty of youtube videos on how to reload them. The pens are kind of expensive, so a lot of diabetics reload them with cheaper insulin.

They are perfect for HCG, and would be perfect for any similar low viscosity low dose daily sub q injection. I use the 32 ga 5/16 needles that come with them.

The downsides of the Humalog pens for Test C is the viscosity. The oil based Test really struggles to come out of the 32 ga needle. And Test is somewhat irritating, so that shallow under your skin can be a bit annoying, it can burn for a bit post injection. For me the convenience is worth it though. Just dial “15” on the pen, push and hold. I hold for about 12 seconds to make sure all the Test makes it through the 32 ga needle. I need to look for some 1/2" 29 ga needles for the Test pen. Not sure what needles can be had for a Humalog pen though 32 ga might be it, but I have a pile of the 32 ga needles and will stick with those. The pens hold 3 cc, not sure I’d try injections larger than .5 cc per dose. You’ll have to do some math to match the pen number with desired dose. I do “15” on the dial with 200 mg/ml Test for ~200 mg per week on a daily dose.

I don’t know if anybody else has tried this, but it works great. Perfect for HCG, but I would need larger and longer needles before I’d call it perfect for Test, but because i do daily, the pen is still my method of choice for test.
