Just to clarify, since the thread took on a life of its own, which is fine, I chose not to pursue this. Several of the responses in this thread, early on, convinced me to forget going further with this, so it actually served a legitimate purpose to solicit others’ opinions.
We sometimes have no way to know through what lens someone else is going to view our actions. A few of the guys on here who are parents hold a perspective that, while I might have respectfully disagreed with their take on judging the situation, would prove to be problematic for me in real life if similar beliefs were found in this community and taken to the school administration. Schools are highly political places. The community does care, to a moral extent, who is working with their kids. It’s probably just not worth it. This is, in my opinion, the biggest drawback to teaching, FYI.
