How to Adjust to Climate Change

It’s a balmy 4 degrees right now. -11 tonight.

In other news, there is another polar vortex coming. This one is supposed to blast 42 states with some cold ass air.

But hey, “the planet is warming.”

Here’s my warming planet as we speak.
I don’t see a gong out there riddled with hits from a high powered rifle at 300+ yards…

You’re slipping man.

No global warming in MT, WY and the Dakotas.

In case you were wondering.
We hit a record for November of -26 yesterday morning. That beat the previous record by 15 degrees.

Who would have thought more climate huckster predictions could be wrong again?

How about an old fridge riddled with .40 S&W bullets?
lmao… So pissed I missed this.

I don’t care which side of the fence you are on, this is funny.

There’s always some climate change thread in here that invariably turns into an argument about whether or not climate change is actually occurring, and whether it is anthropogenic or not.

Well, this isn’t one of those threads. The overwhelming majority of all scientific research in all countries on this planet show that climate change is occurring, it is occurring at accelerated rates rarely, if ever, seen in the last several hundred thousand years, and this acceleration is almost undoubtedly due to human activity.

This is a thread where people who are concerned about the ways in which our lives will alter as climate change continues its course can discuss different measures to adjust to those changes. This isn’t necessarily a thread for discussing ways to prevent climate change or slow down its impact. So if you are going to come in here and argue that climate change isn’t occurring or whatever, get lost. Take it back to the local chapter of the circle jerk society.

I think there are tons of different areas of our lives, the economy, gov’t policy, etc. that need to be reexamined in regards to climate change. I’ll start off the thread by bringing up an area that I think could use a bit of a reevaluation: the insurance industry.

It seems to me that insurance companies should start jacking up the prices on insuring homes in areas susceptible to climate change. Live in the middle of a deciduous forest that is vulnerable to droughts and forest fires? Your insurance is going to go through the roof since you are facing a larger and larger risk every year that your home will burn in a fire.

Want to build a home on a cliff that gets pounded by the ocean all day? Great, but the cost of insuring said home will be astronomical, given that you will face increasing likelihoods of damage due to erosion, or perhaps even flooding from rising ocean levels.

Would this be admission of the “free market” that this is actually happening. Favorite Republican response…“I’m not a scientist but…”

Bam doesn’t seem to worries about it, he just bought a beachfront home in Hawaii. Goes to show you what fakers they are.

http://motherboard.vice.com/blog/the-unusual-weather-pattern-at-the-root-of-californias-drought

The unseasonably cold weather in the eastern half of the country appears to be the result of increased temps on the western half of the continent and out into the eastern half of the Pacific Ocean. Climate change simply doesn’t result in increased temperatures across the globe. It leads to more extreme variations of temperatures in either direction.

The fact that some people are on here touting localized record lows as proof that climate change or global warming is not occurring simply have not done the cursory research it would take to blow up their theory. What is causing climate change is one thing, but to argue that increased record lows in the eastern half of the country is proof that climate change is not occurring is simply laughable.

One half of the country has been stuck in the worst drought in at least decades, and centuries in some parts, while the East Coast gets slammed with massive cold fronts the likes of which haven’t been seen in decades, perhaps centuries in some parts. And people are still on here arguing that climate change isn’t occurring…

Who is “they”? The climate change science community or the White House or politicians in general? What does the President’s residence have to do with anything?

Besides, the lava on that island is probably adding to its growth rate faster than the sea levels are rising.

That house is probably also well above the level of the beach, from what I remember about Magnum P.I.

Besides all that, he isn’t even buying the fucking thing. He’s speculating, as are you. You can do better than this tripe, Maximus. At least argue the issue with merit.

I am addressing the political hacks pushing Climate Change when in fact their actions would suggest the opposite. If I truly believed the oceans would rise, I would not piss away millions on a beachfront property home. Kinda like other political hacks and wiener celebrities shaking their fists about Climate Change while flying on private jets, driving gas guzzling SUV’s, or owning lavish homes far beyond what anyone needs.

I think we should pass the You First Act. Any politician pushing an agenda should be the first to lead by example. You think the 1% make too much ? Cut their pay by half. You think Climate Change will kill us all ? You are banned from flying and driving, and limited to walking or riding a bike. You think people should eat a certain way, then they should mandated to maintaining single digit body fat levels.

The government has failed to accurately predict either of them.
