How Much Do You Like Your Gym?

Its awesome, ever tried it?

I would actually think shoes would be worse for your arches. I’m pretty sure shoes make people flat footed in the first place.

I love mine. Don’t know if its ok to name drop, but brute strength in norfolk is aaawwweessoommee. Olympic stones, sleds, power racks, 200- 900 lb tires, conan carry thingamajig, tons of other odd heavy things to pickup and put down. And 3 cardio machines, one of em broken haha. Not to mention heavy duty benches, with extra wide back rests.

I’m among the smallest there, and the patrons still root me on like a brother. and the price is awesome too.

Best gym Ive found so far!

Helps to avoid rolling your feet out/ provides a solid platform. No pronation/ supination on heavy lifts. Try it out, you’ll like it.

Mono lift, competition bars and plates, IPF combo bench, heavy DB’s, strongman logs, farmers walk handles, Nautilus Pullover machine, GHR. Full of friendly strong dudes and a great place to train.
Shit. Sounds like heaven. Lucky bastard.

Mine is OK, it is cheap, has a squat rack, bench and DBs up to heavier than I currently need. The people there are cool if lacking in knowledge. There are cute girls that train there. And they couldn’t care less about barefoot, chalk or whatever (though I do get some funny looks)

Negatives

Can get crowded if you go at the wrong time, doesn’t have bumper plates or anything to work Oly Lifts, is missing a couple of bits of equipment that are not essential but would be nice. Pretty much no-one there trains properly therefore there is no-one to really drive me or to train with. I would love to train somewhere with people that know more than me.

Final note for the guy that was complaining about only having an assisted pullup thing. Stick a couple of dumbells on it to weight it down and use it as a normal pullup bar.

i like mine, has everything i need - not to mention it’s owned by Mike Robertson and Bill Hartman. not too shabby.

i actually meant to say deadlift barefoot lol but yeah i actually squat barefoot too sometimes. doesnt bother me.

the only downer about my gym, at least from what some of you talked about, is the price. about 350 per year. but man o man does it feel worth it. i have some friends that uhhh i guess you could say “train” at planet fitness. well they used to be friends lol

I work out at my old HS gym…It’s only open M-Th 8-10am and 6-8pm…but I work nights so its perfect for me. No one ever goes at 8 am so I have everything to myself. It’s free! which is the best part.

My gym used to have DB’s up to 150 but they got rid of all the ones over 100 lbs after someone broke one of the mirrors with a 55 or something.

Fucking ridiculous.

Mine is free, always open, has heavy DB’s, a squat rack, and it’s usually empty when I’m there.

Yup.
free? no recession in Norway.

My local gym(a commercial gym that just had the basics) is a 7-8min drive away, or a 30-40min walk if I don’t have the car for some reason. I loved it really, I knew lots of people in there, the staff were really friendly and I just liked training in there for some reason.

Then it closed down. So I found another gym about a 20min drive away that was a bit more BB’er friendly and I used up their 2 week free trial to see what happened with my local one. Time passed and I decided to buy a 3-month membership in the newer gym(at quite a price too I might add) and wouldn’t ya know, my local one opened back up.

My newer one has a power rack and some pretty big and strong guys there. One guy actually complimented me on my squat depth(it’s a real rarity to even see people squat over here, nevermind squat deep) and another asked to help with his deadlift(another rarity). It has an abundance of some pretty good supplements and the staff(excpet for one girl) are pretty cool.
I’m kinda sick of the place though. For some reason I don’t feel welcome there anymore and I just don’t like the atmosphere. I’m just waiting for my membership to dry up.

I was tight for time yesterday so I went to the local one. All the same basic equipment but it has what I need. I suppose there’s actually a risk I could run out of weights for the barbell within the next year or so but I really like it.
I think I’ll just leave the nwer gym and return my older one ASAP. It’s half the price too…

Summer Gym: Only one power rack that is never occupied. DB’s up to 120 (enough for me sadly), kettlebells, landmine, medicine balls up to 30 lb, tons of benches, extra barbells, some serious lifters in there and trainers who know to stay away.

School Varisty Gym: Heaven. 10+ squat racks/10+ benches/10+ Olympic “racks?” DB’s up to 150+.
Only problem is I have to do the program assigned by the head trainer in the varsity gym on team lift days, but he knows his stuff pretty well so it’s never really a problem. Dress code is strict too (team shoes, socks, shorts, t-shirts). And it’s free :)…after 50k tuition :frowning:

Mine is great. Owned by strongest 198 lb lifter in the USA. It has 3 squat stands, 3 power racks, mono, 3 competition benches, every bar you can think of, bands, chains, sleds, kettlebells, kegs, sandbags, etc. And all the guys that go there are awesome.

Well, except me. I’m the asshole.

Google Hi-Rep gym, I think there are some pictures on there, but there is new stuff since those pictures were put up.
