The reason a lot of Americans identify with their ancestors nationalities is because if you’re to say you’re ancestry is American people expect you to say that your father was a Mohawk and your mother was Sioux.
When you live in a country that has the full spectrum of hair/eyes/skin color people tend to ask “where you’re from”.
