I have been in a big 1500-2000 calories per restriction, maintenance 3250 calories for 5 weeks I am down 10 kg. I have not lost strength as such so I am pleased with that.
However, I have read and watched on a very popular podcast that caloric restriction is bad for testosterone formation. As I am very overweight still I want to keep on dieting with the same level of weight loss about 3/4 pound per week. I lost more in the first week. But I do not want this to be at the cost of my health. Obviously reducing obesity should be good for my hormonal profile. But I am doing permanent damage dieting too hard.
no
did they discuss how lean or obese a person needs to be for it to be bad?
answer is always in the question. anything you might be doing negative (huge might) is overshadowed by how much better off health wise you will be when you are no longer obese.
Don’t stop until the scale quits moving. Use the momentum you have to keep going.
if you really wanted/want to concern yourself with this, you needed baseline labs at the start so you could get labs every 6 weeks and compare.
not to late to get a baseline from today.
Thanks throwaway. I have only watched half so far. It’s two hours long. I am quite low anyway which why I am concerned.
I did have a blood / testosterone test. It prompted the diet…I don’t want to go down the TRt route. My doctor prescribed losing weight first.
I’d be lucky to get every 3 to 6 months on the national health service( which is free)
perfect at six weeks get a new test and compare, put your mind at ease.
Not affordable right now…I will ask the doctor though.
