At some point, you have to come to the realization that we are here to live with the virus. It is not going away. More will die and there is nothing we can do about it. When will you feel safe? A vaccine is 12-18 months away at a minimum, if at all, so if you desperately want restrictions lifted and the economy firing again, you should really encourage herd immunity.
How many children must starve because their parents can’t provide enough food?
Exactly. So limit the stupid, selfish modes of infection, and accept the risk from modes of infection that get the economy going again: visiting restaurants, bars, barbers, retail, etc. Partying with the bros does nothing to help get the economy running again and save those small businesses.
Again, if we see a spike in cases from the memorial day weekend, governors will extend restrictions which kills small businesses and the economy. We are 10 days away from phase 2 re-openings here in in my state and i cannot wait to get my haircut and leave a 100% tip. A spike in cases from folks unable to keep themselves from partying with a bunch of others folks over the weekend will delay that opportunity.
Spend your money and take your risks when and where it will help the country.
Instead of thinking for yourself, you are now conditioned to worry about how people’s actions will affect the behavior/decisions of the governor. Mission accomplished.
If you thought for yourself, you’d realize the whole rationale for the lockdown was to *flatten the curve". right? Well, the curve has been flattened, now the rationale for the lockdown has morphed into we have to appease the mayor/governor (insert authority figure here) so that he/she gives us the “opportunity” to live in a responsible fashion? JFC.
Still BS. The “spike” was supposedly a danger due to fear of overwhelming the hospitals. If the hospitals are not overwhelmed, the original rationale for the lockdown is still no longer valid.
As @Jewbacca pointed out (I’m mirroring most of his points tbh), this is a novel infectious agent, people are going to be infected, period. Pay it now or pay it later.
The rate can still spike and overwhelm the hospitals. I think this is lost on folks. Widespread testing is so important because it will give us an idea of how many people are now immune, and how many are still at risk. If 100 million are immune in the USA, that means 260 million are at risk of bring infected… Run the hospitalization rates and you still have many magnitudes more than healthcare can handle.
We did flatten the curve. Hurray. We need to keep the curve flat. The aggressive restrictions where to flatten the initial spread spike. Now we can roll back restrictions keeping an eye on rates to ensure the rate remains flat.
Yes, your usual write whatever can be read in a million other places, plus a dollop of condescension. I should know better, you just triggered me with your mind boggling usage of “opportunity” to… I guess you truly were grown in the nanny state. Have a nice life.
I think it’s ignorant to have the need to paint everything according to left and right, liberal and conservative. It’s a virus; I’m sure it doesn’t take sides.
A liberal says we should wear masks suddenly becomes what about the hippies? I really don’t see the connection.
You accuse me of not thinking for myself, and for regurgitating arguments from across the internet. Then you say you are just mirroring Jewbacca’s posts.
You accuse me of being the product of a nanny state, and pepper your responses with expletives about my views. Then you say I am being condescending.
Finally you say you were “triggered” by my word choice, and sign off in a dramatic flourish with “have a nice life”. Cool dude. Hope you have a good one too.
I have a right to choose whether or not to wear a mask. Furthermore, as I’ve said before, they’re ineffective, so why in the hell am I going to follow a suggestion from a government who can’t even agree on “models” and keep adjusting their terminology to further justify continued shutdowns?
Protest during the National Anthem? Yes, I am extremely against that. In a country where ANYONE is granted unlimited opportunities, YOU choose whether or not to be successful or unsuccessful. Protesting systemic racism is simply a publicity stunt. It does not exist. Will there always be some form of racism in America? Yes, because certain individuals are insane. It’s an unfortunately reality we have to live in.
Because you can literally become anything you want to be, regardless of race, so long as you’re willing to bust your ass.
(i.e. Morgan Freeman, and as much as I hate him, Don Lemon).
The other racism I am referring is just small pockets of generalized crap - KKK in the South and what have you. Random people just holding general dislikes and negative thoughts towards minorities.
You really don’t like to hear others opinions, do you? Do you just assume everything from the mainstream media is gospel? Especially from sources such as CNN and MSNBC? I don’t like any sources, tbh. FOX included. The only program I watch is Tucker Carlson. The rest is pure garbage.
When it comes to government, I have a lot of gripes. And stupid people (that’s not directed towards you, just people in general, tbh). Other than that, gripes are limited.
