How Has Covid Affected You?

We have our kids get the flu vaccine each year. We do this because kids are supposedly vulnerable to seasonal flu and our docs recommend it and we believe in government mind control.

During this Coronavirus outbreak, I mentioned it to one family that seemed shocked and I thought okay, they’re an antivaccer - who’d have thunk it.

Then I mentioned it to two more who I know have their kids vaccinated and it became apparent that I know a bunch of people who think anti-vaccers are looney tunes until it comes to one particular vaccine where the anti-vaccers have a point lol

I thought that was just a joke. I had no idea it was really. Now it’s so much more inappropriately hilarious.

I may have just blown a funny fuse.

The information was in a press release by an intern at the FAA, which is how it got released on mainstream news. It was widely reported onlegit news. The intern was fired.

Some trivia back on point:

Mrs. Jewbacca (Dr.) was given a script of 150mg of HydroChlorquine/day to take as a preventative. Apparently, Israel did some sort of tentative study and people who take HCQ for lupus (?) and some other disease have a much lower rate of infection than other people. This was good enough for the hospital to make every working there take it.

She’s seen exactly zero patients with CV19, but has delivered a lot of babies while more-ER-trained OBGYNs are dealing with the sick people, which have started to come in. She still has to completely shower and change coming in and leaving the hospital.

I have gained tremendous respect for homeschoolers.

I also am of the opinion that “Google Classroom” is the shittiest suite of programs I have ever seen.

Well I had a lot of catching up to do on the thread. Sum ting is wong for sure. This threads shining light on a lot of different perspectives but so far I havent seen anyone in here actually contract covid-19 themselves. I may have missed it someone said they did

But have you or a gf/wife?

And that last mesage from @Jewbacca has me refreshed a little on a thought that I bury. My brother and his wife are two months away from having a newborn girl and it scares the shit out of me to think she needs to go into the hospital to deliver the baby if covids getting treated there. Which since I started this thread we had a couple cases now I think were at triple digits so its growing in numbers. More people are being tested at least so it appears to be growing

I feel there is a lot of added fear to publicity

I also want to add. Its amazing to see a community like t nation offer moral support to everyone everyday and this thread is a good spot to witness that. Yall are good people

Wholeheartedly agree with this one. Google Classroom and “Launchpad” are the software my son is having to use starting today and neither of them work very well.

I work in the oil industry. My company reduced the 2020 capital budget by 1/3. If the demand shortage and price war stretches through the summer they will definitely lay off a significant chunk of the workforce. They’ve already started laying off contractors. I recently got moved into a role where I am expendable, so that would really suck.

Our state goes on lock-down at 8PM tonight. Apparently it takes 0.02% of your population getting sick and 1.06% of those that are sick dying to take a giant shit on the state and US Constitution in Maryland. 15 people have died and this is what we do while we have an average of 300 murders a year in one city and nothing happens. Let that sink in.

Land of the free, hilarious.

As much as lockdown sucks. Look at the rate of infection and how fast things escalate. The fact is older people die. And it spreads. Just picture your 300 murders a year and all the assaults that happen in a year as the sick rate and mortality rate and consider it’s been one month in your state or province or city… whatever your comparing these numbers to. AMD realize this isn’t a constant variable. It’s a growing number that doubles and triples. Your murder rate and assault rate year after year are 100% predictable. Covids predictions are way higher and effect more then specific demographics. It effects everyone. you can go into a gang related territory and find 50 of your 300 murders but you can go into any suburb, hospital, high school, daycare, elder care home and find people being at risk of dying if they contract it.

The problem (imo) is we are operating under assumptions and often worst-case scenarios to create policy. The facts of the situation are:

0.02% of MDs population has been infected.
1.06% of the above have died (15).

The above is pretty much in line with the US as a whole (our death rate is better). Yet, we’re locking people down by order and threatening jail time or a $5k fine out of doomsday scenario fear.

Asking people to stay at home (I’ve been home for over two weeks) and demanding people with threat of repercussion are two very different things imo and the later is unacceptable.

The fact that innercity gang member are dying vs. an oldtimer is not particularly relevant to me. Death is death.

You have been following how quickly it escalates from a handful of cases to multiple thousands, right?

Having to wash your hands and stay home for a few months really doesn’t seem that much of a sacrifice when you balance it against potentially millions of deaths. 1.06% of the population is how many million in the US?

You would need to test everyone to know that.

No. We are looking at the reality in Italy, France, Spain, etc. The region in Italy which is hardest hit has a population of 10 million. A little less than twice your state’s population. In one day over 900 people died. That would be like 500 or more dying in one day in your state. Compare that to 300 murders over the course of the year. Oh, and those 500 deaths in one day will happen every day for a few weeks.

Advising people to stay home and wash their hands is fine. Forcing people to stay home or they’ll go to jail/fined is what I have a problem with.

It’s not 1.06% of the US population. It’s 1.06% those that have test positive in the US. The current total death estimate in the US is about 80k.

Even if it’s 200k based on Dr. Fucci’s worst-case estimate you’re talking about .06% of the US population. The current total death estimate for Maryland before the stay-home order is .019%.

This strikes me as a lot of people to die in a short space of time.

This is the estimate through August.

*Per the link in my previous post. I believe Dr. Fucci’s is through August as well.

I assumed as much. It was the 80k deaths that stuck out as an issue, rather than the timescale.
