Much appreciated dude, but why would I say you’ll never get there? I’m a 32 year old desk jockey with a blown out knee and zero natural athletic ability; you should get MUCH stronger than me if you try.
I’ve been training in some fashion for 18 years. It’s just a lot of time, consistency and effort. Getting away from dogma helped too. I was a lot like the sentiment in this topic, that all deadlifts had to be deadstop and no high reps and all that, and as a result I got stuck at a low 500s deadlift for 3 years. It took a pretty bad injury to get me to start approaching my training differently, and that got me to actually start getting big and strong.
Thanks man, but a skinny ex bikeracer at 53 years old with a deadlift max of 330 lbs. Nope I don’t think so. But I would love to pull 440 lbs in a little over 1 year from now. That’s my goal, and hoping to get 2-3-4 plates this year.
At the moment I’m just enjoying TN and have a glance at how you strong dudes train. Trying to get as strong as I can.
My boss is entering his first strongman competition at 55 years old. I’ll admit he has a hugely successfull athletic career but also the countless injuries that come with it.
Just wanted to take his example that you can still achieve a lot! Best of luck with your goals.
