How Did Bush Make His Billions?

No it’s not uber weak as you put it, this thread is all speculative. i can’t generate evidence about any of this. What is it about people not agreeing with a topic immediately telling someone to “show proof”, if you wanna get that silly i can ask you to show evidence to contradict me. You can’t can you?

Besides what’s your problem anyway, are you pissy because you took this way more to heart then you were supposed to?

I do taxes for a living, and your little tale is either:
a) Rife with ignorance about what you are doing

-or-

b) A lie.

I’m not asking you to prove anything to me other than how leasing a Hummer saved you 100K on your taxes.

If you don’t want to get called out and asked to prove bogus statements, then my advice to you would be to stop making them.
Any vehicle over 6000 pounds and over a certain price range qualifies for a deduction. The first year it saved us about 40,000 as an income write off. Don’t know what else to tell you Mr. CPA. You are a CPA aren’t you? Not some wanna be accountant that got a job at H&R Block to punch in taxes, right?

Just last night on the news they were talking about 3 of the major oil companies profit for the 2nd quarter. They all had $4-$7 billion in profit!! Not gross, profit!

Now maybe Bush isn’t directly receiving payments from any of these companies, but you can’t say he’s not extremely favorable toward big oil making even bigger profits. He could do a lot to either control prices, require better fuel efficiency, etc. However that would not serve his friends in oil, just the American public he claims to give a shit about.

We don’t need more drilling, we need less price gouging!
Bahm, nail on the head. This is exactly my point if you read between the lines. Oil tycoons like the Bush’s having oil companies take in RECORD BREAKING profits during their administration. WHY? Price gouging in it’s finest.

Like I said - you cannot LEASE the Hummer and get the deduction you are talking about. That deductionis for depreciable assets, specifiaclly vehicles OWNED by the TAXPAYER.

You cannot LEASE and take that deduction - hence you are full of shit, a liar, or totally fucking clueless what you are doing in the 'corporation you own.

Furthermore, to save you the 100K in taxes which is what you said that leasing the hummer saved you, would have had to have paid - at the very least - 400K for that particular vehicle.

I call bullshit on you again. And yes I am a CPA, and I own my own practice.

What do you do besides make up bogus untenable stories that make you look like a total dumbass? If you can indeed make money doing that, you must be a rich sumbitch.

Try again shithead.

Where’s JTF on this? JTF, give us your input! This has to be the Illuminati at work or Bush’s plot for the Reptilian Beings to take over the world.

Try again shithead.
More quality from RJ! LOL!

OK maybe i don’t know what I’m talking in this case. Ofcourse this will be seen as backpedaling by some, buy our write offs are what they are and if I’m wrong about them coming from a company lease of the H2 then so be it. I’m not the CPA, know nothing about accounting as i’m sure most of your clients are pretty clueless about what you do, that’s what makes you a highly paid expert in this field, myself i am a complete moron in this field, and am big enough to admit that the pieces may not be where i think they are.

As for the other posters referring to me as a shithead, well i can say you’re a big man with plenty of internet courage, go pat yourself on the back. I won’t stop to your level.

I really do own a company and we have more then a few vehicles on our balance sheet.

The statement you made was silly. RJ is just stating the obvious.

LOL No, it’s just because it’s stupid to throw out a bunch of dumb speculations as if it is all true and when people shoot down your faulty logic, you claim entertainment. It’s just idiotic. When people debate a topic, they tend to rely on facts and actual information. You expected everyone to just stop doing that? What kind of debate is that?

Look, before you can try and use someone’s own line of logic against them, you might want to try reading what they wrote. We already contradicted you with facts (U.S. is not in OPEC, Bush did not make his money in oil, Bush cannot actually sit on the board of any company, etc.)… you just chose to hope no one would notice that.

Your complete lack or disregard of logic is troubling.

Nononono, it’s the Gay Stoner Islamofascists. They’re the ones doing it!

I’m not sure he’s going to be able to pat himself on the back, I think his arms are sore already…

Garrrr!

So, now we’ll see just how much ammo the old buzzard has. Will this divert his fire or simply end up with even more scorched earth? Stay tuned…

You are right. This is why the Democrats have to distance themselves from the Michael Moore types as soon as possible.

The Democrats need real debate on issues, not this kind of BS.
True, they do, and the Republicans (or whoever they are) need to shut up about teaching intelligent design in public schools.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to butt in, be here we’ve got a communist teacher’s union fighting tooth and nail to make mediocrity the standard, and a conservative governor supporting standards based tests that are developmentally inappropriate-and guess what, a school board redesigning the district curricular math plan for the purpose of scoring higher on a developmentally inappropriate math test. (You take it half way through 10th grade but to score proficient, you would be able to score 540 on the math SAT on the spot)

to gregus i say tube steak boogie.

You don’t give up easily do you. You need to learn to comprehend so you’ll stop seeing what you want to see in my writing. Never in my posts did i state that the USA is OPEC, give me a fucking break already.

the Bushes DID make their money in texas oil, i guess this fact DID escape you. Even if you watch the History channel and their biography on the Bush family line, it was very clear about their oil drilling…And that’s the stupid History channel showing it, for all to see.

Bush can sit on ANY private board he wants. Key issue is “PRIVATE”. Not a company board, not a publicly traded company, but a completly “PRIVATE” board. Stop seeing only what you want to see.

Every time we had a Bush in office we had astronomical increases in gas prices accross the board. This Bush came into office and i just stood back and thought, “watch the gas prices go up” and like magic they did to record breaking highs, with oil companies recording recors breaking profits approaching 10 billion in PROFIT. But no matter the mechanics of how it actually happened that you argue with me about, the point is that my logic dictated this would happen, and it did, faulty as it may be, it’s price gauging sp? Pure and simple and he’s letting it happen.

But in your logic it’s very legitimate and easily explainable. This is about BIG profits, there is so many billions of dollars being made little people like us just don’t matter. And this is a speculative conversation made for entertainment, not meant to become a pissing contest like the one you made it into.

BTW:

Take down your doughy back from your avatar, your wing span leaves alot to be desired.

Ok well, did you read my post that you quoted? What did it say? Right now i’m shitting bricks until i find out exactly why i thought what i thought about the writeoffs. I can’t be any more honest then that.

Read the first sentence on this link.

Bush, texas, and Oil. Step 1 in his money career.

Congratulations. Not since Al Shades has collective IQ of T-Nation forums been dragged down so hard by one person. Quite an accomplishment - you should be really proud.

But wait, I thought this was all for entertainment purposes and wild speculation? So then why are you trying to justify all of your positions? Aww, are you getting mad now, junior? I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings. And look at you referencing some anonymous History channel biography that you probably never even watched! Adorable.

Look, just re-read your own first post. You basically imply he sits on boards with other OPEC families, it’s right there. And no, the president does not sit on any boards, public or private. Seriously, you think he is sneaking off in the dead of night to attend board meetings with the Bin Ladens? LOL

But thanks for trying to insult my avatar because you’re just showing your own disregard for the facts again. I hardly need kudos from the likes of you to validate all of my hard work and effort.

I’m with BostonBarrister on this one - we might need to start a fund for your tin foil expenses. Lemme know when you have something mildly interesting to say, ok?

Dude, you already fessed up to being a troll (i.e. starting up a thread of wild speculation to see if it would piss people off). Be a troll-man and accept who you are.
