Hot Chicks With Douche Bags

China,

If I see a hot girl dressed in those same alien sunglasses or snowboots in freakin’ MAY, I look at her the exact same way I look at the douchebag guys. I laugh at her, and have no respect for her obvious need to follow others, and when it comes to personality and character, which I’ve previously harped on in this thread, I look at her the exact same way and with the exact same disgust.

The only difference is I want to bang her too. The only reason is that I’m biologically wired to want to bang her, and I’m not prepared to fight my biological mating urges. That doesn’t make it anymore ok for her to be the female equivalent of a douchebag. I don’t discriminate the hate–I’m equal opportunity.

It has nothing to do with dressing “scantily” in my book. In my opinion, if you’ve put in lots of time and effort to carve a good body then you have every right to dress in ways to show that. No, the defining characteristic is what I’ve said before and others have said here–douchebaginess is defined by being a wholesale trendy fad whore and a superficial, plastic dumbass follower with no character or inner quality. The word wholesale is important because we’re not talking about a single fashion that someone happens to like to wear. As much as I may find it repugnant it’s a personal thing and someone may really like it. No, this is not an isolated thing, this is a wholesale sellout.

Hundreds of years ago they used to call them “fops”. Same concept.

This post is far from articulate. Hopefully it still gets my core point across accurately.

I don’t think being a douche bag has anything to do with gelling your hair, tanning, popping your collar, wearing trendy clothes, or metrosexual activities, in and of themselves. Guys can still do those things without being douchebags. There’s nothing wrong with making yourself clean, well presented or attractive for women. They do it for us. There’s nothing wrong with wearing something weird or revealing or out of the ordinary in a club environment - it’s part of the festive atmosphere.

So it’s not just about the clothes or hair. A guy can be wearing something as simple as a pair of board shorts and baseball cap turned backwards, and still be a douchebag. Someone could have dreadlocks or a bald head and still be a douchebag. A guy could be wearing normal clothes and still be a douchebag. It doesn’t matter if one is clean shaved, waxed and metro, or rough stubbled, unshaven and smelly - you can still be a douchebag or not a douchebag either way.

It’s all about the attitude with their overall appearance that makes a guy a douche. It’s about the way they project themselves to the world.

You can see it in their eyes. Also in their facial expression, especially when a photo is taken. It shows. It’s usually a smug kind of look. Often it includes a pose or throwing symbols with the hands and it’s like they’re saying, “look at me - I can score hot chicks, or I’m WITH a hot chick in this photo and I’m uber cool”.

It’s hard to really define what a douche bag is, but in general it’s someone who is a poseur, a creep, or an asshole.

EmperialChina, those last two examples you posted - I wouldn’t class them as douchebags. They look like they work out and keep fit. The first two just look like male strippers and they don’t have the douchebag look in their eyes. The second one looks kinda familiar - I’m sure I’ve seen those double pentagram tatoos on a band member before. He’s obviously going for some kind of beach/rockstar look. I don’t really like the look of him but he doesn’t look too bad.

I think most would agree, the guy in the example I’ve posted wearing the red cap looking like a wannabee Fred Durst clone - now THAT is a good example of douchebaggery.

(Note: this photo was part of the Miss Nevada/Katie Rees scandal. Sorry guys but I had to photoshop the girl’s blue top to cover things up a bit there…)

Great post, Aragorn! I agree, and I admit my posts where not fully well thought out; I was playing Devil’s Advocate a bit. JohnnyBlaze that was also a very good follow up and I agree Douche-bagness begins and is centered around one’s attitude and behavior, with it being more likely seen in trend followers.

I think it is partly a transparent identity disorder also. Having to craft and create an image…anyhow I wasn’t trying to take away from the fact that I find that behavior all extremely annoying along with everyone else here.

Why is it cute when a little boy puts on a cape and runs around in his underwear, but I get arrested every time I try to do the same damned thing?

Look, no one likes to see bad behavior be rewarded. Most people dislike arrogance in others. Most people dislike inauthenticity in others.

With regard to your argument about the elevation of women, one could easily argue it the other way: women are expected to be materialistic and hollow, but men are held to a higher standard. When men lower themselves to that level, and women reward them, it shows a depreciation in the value of manliness.

Ditto on that.

I gotta respect those douches for having great face punchability.

There. Credit where credit is due.

A little too “introspective” there, My Brother!

A “douche” is one of those people that is hard to describe…but you know them when you see (or talk!) to them?

It isn’t so much that they “go after what they want”…but it’s that attitude of superiority and that Woman-Kind (and man-kind) are worthless without their presence.

Often the front they put on is just that…a front…and they attract women probably more insecure than they are.

Jealous???

Cha’!..not even remotely!

im a little jealous…[/quote]

Don’t be honey butt sacks, I love you

That 50% of the population is still valued less is an abhorrent statement to be sure.(although it has a great degree of truth in society today) I’m not talking about ignoring the evolutionary differences in gender roles(women being mothers, men providers, etc.) when I talk about “equality”.

No; rather the perception that women have less intrinsic value than men is an antiquated, misogynistic idea that, surprisingly, still persists in the minds of many men today. Whatever happened to respecting and valuing each other not as men or women with superior/inferior qualities, but human beings? Why can’t men and women look upon each other’s natural predispositions with an equal sense of worth, with the notion that both are necessary for human existence to thrive and that one is in no way superior to the other?

I accept that the preceding was rather incoherent, but the gym is closing and I gotta run.

/Rant

The last time I called someone a douchebag, a friend and I were leaving a bar, about 1 am, near a college campus, and saw a guy walking down the side walk holding his girlfriend’s hand, with his ipod’s earphones in, oblivious to everything. What exactly makes him a douche bag? Not his hair or the way he was dressed, because he was totally non-descript. It was his actions, his behavior. He’s holding his girlfriends hand, an act of intimacy, yet rather than enjoy the moment with her he has to tune it out with his ipod.

I don’t know if any of the guys in the photos are douche bags. You never know, if the shit hit the fan, they might actually stand up and be the kind of guy you can count on. But from my experience, every guy I’ve ever met who wears sunglasses indoors at night isn’t worth a shit. Jealousy has nothing to do with it.

Nothing happened to it, because it never happened to begin with. Don’t get me wrong, I agree with pretty much everything you said, except that sentence stood out to me as an example of someone longing to get back to “values” that never existed to begin with.

Maybe… just maybe… everybody needs to quit thinking about this so much. Who’s getting what girl, why aren’t I…what tricks do I need to learn, who AM I! Jesus, just relax. Do what you do. Dress how you want. Be who you are. Go where you go. Stop thinking about fucking for 2 motherfucking seconds and just be. Write a book. Sing a song. Breathe some air? <3

What does <3 mean? I see this everywhere on the intertubes and I am baffled. Does it mean less than three?

If everyone did what you suggest, you wouldn’t have anyone to feel superior on the internet to.

Why would I dress, write a book, sing a song, or breathe other than to get some pussy? I am confused by your post.
